A little off the beaten track, we visited more by chance than intended. We were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the wines and had a most enjoyable afternoon.
As the restaurant (which appears to be upmarket) was fully booked, we opted for the wine tasting at a very reasonable fee. The wines and winemaking process was well explained and questions were intelligently answered.
Although just a wine lover, not a connoisseur, I would have preferred some cheese or a palate cleanser between wines which were all presented for tasting in the same glass, without rinsing.
This was the same experience at other wine tasting establishments, so it appears to be the acceptable thing in the area.
The old, Cape Dutch farmhouse, which is now a boutique hotel, makes for a romantic setting and a nice breakaway from the city. The bike trails appear to be popular with active families who want to get out of the city and explore the countryside and vineyards.
