Located in the foothills of the Pyrenees in a quiet small town, you are perfectly situated for a fantastic vacation. We joked that we were "about an hour" from everything but it was true. Cadaques (Dali and Costa Brava), Girona (sights and shopping), Besalu' (ancient hill town), Collioure (coastal French gem), Ceret (huge farmers market), and much more - all 'about an hour' by car. For hikers the GR11 passes right through town - this is the cross Pyrenees trail. For bikers, we had bikes delivered by Medbikes and rode every day. And there is an ancient woman's bath in a rivera few minutes from the house that we hit after every ride. Raquel at the small general store was so gracious and we ordered roasted chicken and potatoes several times to go with our local cheeses and salads.
The house itself is fantastic, especially for a group of adults. There are four adult bedrooms with comfy beds and 2 1/2 baths with plenty of hot water. The kitchen had plenty of room, a dishwasher, an espresso machine that saw constant use, and an induction stove. I am a retired cooking teacher and I cooked every day here. The terrace became our communal hang out for morning coffee, lunch and dinner and the daily glasses of wine. There is more than enough room to get away for some solitude including a den, a pool table, a magic sleep inducing hammock, and a lower terrace complete with ping pong table.
Best of all, the hosts are so welcoming. They met us at the train station in Figueres, drove us to our car rental and then we followed them to the house where a basket of food awaited. Esther showed us how to use the wifi, the appliances, and told us where to get our supplies. The house is very comfortable and nicely designed with art everywhere, good colors and comfortable furniture. Don't let a lack of a pool deter you. The swimming hole is better than any pool with clear, clean moutain water, a small waterfall, wild strawberries, and rock pools.
We were a group of 11 people (not all at once) and everyone wants to go back again for another stay. I have to say, this was one perfect vacation.
