The gated entrance to the grounds is just the beginning. This small resort is nestled in the mountains and is surrounded by hazel nut trees. The each building is unique and the rooms are spacious. The pool area is tranquil, plenty of areas to relax in the sun or shade. Great breakfast each morning. This was our first hotel on our trip and probably the nicest.

Rooms and pool excellent. Staff very friendly and helpful. Lovely and tranquil - just the place after a days site seeing. Within an hour of Vesuvius, Pompeii, Herculaneum and the dramatic Amalfi coastal drive (need to be very relaxed for that).
Would definitlety recommend and would love to go again ourselves.

I stayed at Villa Rizzo this August for one week with my husband and two children, ages 6 and 10. Our stay was nothing short of magnificent. The owners, I Signori Rizzo, and all of the staff were extremely helpful and always pleasant. Our room, a suite, was clean and spacious, as was the bathroom which had both a handheld shower and a jacuzzi tub. The pool and lunch area/coffee bar are perched in the hills with a breathtaking view of the mountains and tfields of nocciole trees (hazelnuts used in Nutella). Although the temperatures were very high that week , once we arrived at the Villa Rizzo there were cool breezes and I even wore a shawl one evening. My kids swam every day in the pristine pool and delighted in the peacocks, geese, donkeys, cat and dog on the property. Breakfast was perfect with just picked hazelnuts, freshly baked cake, pastries, yogurt, meats and cheeses and coffee, tea or hot chocolate. Travel to the Amalfi coast via a 15 minute drive to Salerno and the traghetti avoided traffic on the coast (we went to Amalfi, Ravello and Capri on daytrips). In addition it's an easy drive (less than an hour to Paestum (on the way the BEST Mozzarella di bufala ever in Battipaglia) and Pompeii. In short, it is the way to do it if you want to visit the Campania region without the hustle and bustle of staying on the coast. We would return without question. ANd SIgnor Rizzo is currently constructing a "beauty farm" with hot tub, massage rooms, a hammam room - exquisite tile, beautiful light....a dream.

Nicely situated near Salerno, easy to drive and reach all sites such as pompei, ercolano, the amalfi coast. Comfortable rooms, large swimming pool, helpful staff, warm welcome. A place I would recommend for families of all ages!

We had a great stay for five nights here at Villa Rizzo. My parents are elderly and have difficulty with stairs, the staff did everything to make accommodations for them--including breakfast delivered to our room! Mariangela works at reception and is extremely helpful with your needs and is knowledgeable about the great sights in the area. Also, her English is very good.

The rooms were very clean and comfortable. There are not many rooms, so I recommend that you book early. The villa is located near the main highways for convenience, but just far enough away that you are really in the mountains. I would recommend that you use mapquest.com (or some equivalent site) and print yourself some maps with different scales so that you can have an easy time finding it. It's a little tricky the first time, but well worth it. Be sure to check out out the beautiful peacocks roving the grounds--no joke!
