I don't think I can really add anything to the other reviews that have been posted on here already other than to agree with them. The hotel is fantastic, great food, exceptional staff and in the great location of Galur. Really enjoyed tha afternoon snacks when we came back off the slopes but you have to take it easy so that you could leave room for the evening meal which was superb. My wife gave the skiing a miss on a couple of days and used the local swimming pool which was about 110 yds walk from the hotel and then cam back and used the spa facilities in the hotel. Really easy access for the ski bus. Overall a fantastic traditional Austrian hotel

Stayed there half board on a ski trip. we had to pay extra as they only had rooms with a balcony left, but were glad we had it in the end, as the room was huge and had a nice view. The nightly 5 course dinner is both filling and has imaginatively made food, so no need to eat out. Drinks are reasonably priced and the staff service is exceptional (well done Toni and carmen in particular). The owner family are always there to answer any questions or deal with any problems and couldn't be more helpful. It seems to have lots of guests who come back every year. Skis and boots can be handily left foc at a ski shop near the bus stop, which you will need to use to access the slopes. The only gripes are small - it has free wifi, but becomes quickly overloaded at popular times, so only really accessible off peak ie early morning or late evening. Bring a couple of cable ties to tie up the low hanging lamps in the rooms and if you don't like soft beds, ask for a firm mattress or a board for your bed and they will oblige. The isn't much to galtur village, but with a great hotel you don't need anything more.

The bus stop is only a few minutes walk away from the hotel and it is a easy to get to the slopes with very regular free buses (wirl, 5 mins away or ischgl, 15 mins). If there is fresh snow then there is a lot of off-piste in wirl and that can occupy you for 2-3 days plus it has a fraction of the skiers you will find in ischgl. Wirl is a comparatively small resort and you will outgrow it quickly if limited to the pistes and have blue skies. The Ischgl ski area is huge and has even more off piste, but suffers from the crowds more quickly. Ischgl has a lively acres ski scene, but again it is very crowded and difficult to find a seat outside. Wirl has limited apres ski places, but again not crowded. Wirl wins in terms of cost of lunch time restaurants vs ischgl. There is another small resort called kappl, which is accessible by bus from wirl (25 mins?), although I hear it can suffer from south facing slopes. But snow or shine there is plenty to ski in a week based in galtur. It also beats the hell out of paying extortionate french ski resort lunch and drinks prices. Ja, I'll be back!

First yes there is a hill, a bit of a struggle with luggage but we managed. There is a local arrangement with Wolfart intersport 3 mins walk where you can leave your skis and boots for free.Bus stop for galtur and ischgl is just outside. Buses every 10 mins. As like many Austrian hotels food can be a bit rich however the 5 course meals with excellent salad buffet and après ski buffet more than compensated for this. Well presented and very tasty. Top marks to the hotel for having a non smoking lounge. Had so many holidays tainted by over enthusiastic pipe and cigar smokers in some hotels. Wish the rest of Austria would follow suit.house wine reasonably priced at €18 per litre. Hotel spotless and all staff very courteous.
Buy your lift pass when you arrive. Why pay months upfront to your tour company. The crystal rep had both galtur and full area passes available on the coach. We opted for a choice pass 4 days galtur and 2 days ichgl @ €234 at time of writing. Delivered prompt in the morning. If travelling to ischgl get of the bus at the second stop for the fimba and pardatschgrat gondola to miss the biggest queues. Try the Fluchthorn alm on the slopes of galtur for the best gulachsuppe and tirolergrostl.

Had an excellent stay here last week. We did not have a balcony but our room was very good. Wooden/tiled floor with beautiful wash/shower room. Modern fittings and walk in shower with waterfall fitting.
Food, wonderful fine dinning, but a bit too much for me! Staff were excellent with a special mention to Robert...
We could not fault the location. Yes, there is a steep driveway but take the Reps advice and deposit your gear at Intersport 3 mins away. The walk back up the slope at the end of the day stretches out the hamstrings! The bus runs every 10 mins to Ischgl and seats are almost guaranteed at the Dorfplatz stop.
We were very lucky with lovely dinner companions! Thank you, Alex, Simon, Elfride, Jane and David. Also to the Kinross folks....
This is an excellent location to ski both Wirl (Galtur) and Ischgl. Word of warning, if you venture to Kappel and See, should you ski 2 different resorts in the same day, this will count as 2 days of your lift pass!

We really enjoyed our stay at the Aplenhotel Tirol in Galtur.

The food served at dinner was outstanding, different every night and served so efficiently by pleasant staff. Breakfast and afternoon tea were also good!

The room was both spacious and clean, we had a bath, balcony and sofa area.

The hotel also has a nice sauna / whirlpool area and the standard ski storage rooms.

Getting around Galtur and Ischgl is easy. The free bus which is less than a 2 min walk from the hotel is very regular (every 10mins) and only takes 15 mins to get to ischgl or 5 mins to get to the slopes at Galtur.

Ischgl is a brilliant ski area with lots of runs which are wide and long. Galtur was also nice, although a lot smaller, it has some goods runs to get warmed up at the begging of the week. If you by an area ski pass it covers both areas.

We hired skis from Sport Walder, which was handy because they have a ski depot opposite the bus stop so you dont have to carry skis about. You can also lock your skis up on the Piste for 1 euro a day if you wish.

A very good trip made brilliant by a quality hotel.

Room Tip: ask for a balcony!

Went here with friends on Crystal ski holiday.
Best hotel we've stayed at due to friendly efficient staff, fantastic food and pleasant surroundings.
Easy to catch regular free ski bus to Ischgl and Wirl (Galtur) - and also Kappl and See.
Galtur is a pleasant village for strolling around with a few cafes and bars and walks further afield and along riverside.
Free wifi. Excellent ski and boot room - and also storage depot at nearby Intersport if you want to avoid walking in ski boots on the hill to/from hotel.
Great jacuzzi, sauna and small steam room with relaxation area in the basement.
Nice breakfast with broad selection, but the piece de resistance was the afternoon sandwiches and cakes spread - superb!
Evening meals were 5 courses with nice gaps between. Choice of 3 mains to select the night before. Amazing quality, with huge salad table every night and good meats - eg wild boar, venison, pork, chicken and steaks.

Room Tip: with rooms at front with windows open you hear church bells at 7am each day and delivery/collection...

This well appointed hotel is profesionaly run by a brother and sister team of the family Lorenz who lost family members in the tragic avalanche of February 1999.
There is a shrine in the reception area.I could not add to previous reviewers complimentary remarks and would not hesitate to stay there again.
Galtur is a good 20 mins by frequent (10 mins) bus to Ischgl and I recommend use of the central village bus stop 300 yds west of the hotel to ensure getting on(not a certainty in Austria as there is no queueing system )There is a free ski depot at intersport shop wolfart which saves the treacherous Hotel access rd
There is a supermarket 400yds east and a sports centre/swimming pool 500yds south. The alpinarium in the main street is worth a visit at 7 euros as it has information about the avalanche The local ski area is at Wirl a 5 minute bus ride west and is worth a day or two .It would be quite adequet for a beginners week.
