“family holiday”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 July 2012

we had a very enjoyable stay with daughter, son in law & 2 small grandsons, 3yrs. old & 1yr.old,the cottage was very spacious which meant we weren't falling over each other! it was very secluded, great for the children as they were able to get outside to play,(when it stopped raining!) without fear of traffic, there was everything provided for the kids including toys & books, a nice touch, We know the area well but Carol was still very knowledgable about things to do and places to see, There are 2 cottages, "Swallow" & "Swift", we stayed in "Swallow" & I would definately recommend it both for families & couples

A gorgeous week in peace and quiet in one of the best self catering cottages we have ever stayed in ! Carole & Greg were brilliant - advised us of loads of places to visit too ! What a week! We'll be back !

Room Tip: Either cottage would be great as they are adjacent and the same standard !

Swallow cottage is located in a tranquil setting where you can enjoy the quiet and comfort of the surrounding countryside. The cottage itself is peaceful and spacious.
Both Carol and Greg were excellent hosts, very welcoming and helpful in identifying surrounding places of interest to visit.
This location is perfect for exploring the Moray coastline including the many castles and ruins in and around aberdeenshire.
The cottage and location is highly recommended.

Room Tip: The ground floor bedroom is ideal for those with limited mobility, extremely quiet and peaceful.

This holiday cottage is in incredibly picturesque settings and only 30 minutes away from some of the best beaches I have ever seen.

There are 2 cottages in a barn conversion, Swallow Cottage and Swift Cottage, we were in Swift. On our arrival we were met by Carol who gave us a quick guided tour and then left us to settle in. The cottage is very well equipped and has everything we could have wanted from instant hot water to high speed internet.

As I am an early riser a high point for me was sitting on the east facing patio in the morning with a cup of coffee looking out over the paddock and reading a book! Carol and Greg have 2 horses which you can groom at certain times if that is your kind of thing, we didnt but our neighbours did and appeared to have a ball doing so.

Carol knows an awful lot about what to do in the area no matter what you want to do or what your budget is.

Nettle Cottages were great value for money and on arrival we were really happy with the level of accomodation. It was clean, comfortable and had everything you could wish for in a self catering cottage. The area is also fantastic for visitor attractions.

The cottages are a fantastic venue for a family holiday. We stayed with our two young children and our friends with kids lived next door and it worked out brilliantly. The cottages are in a picturesque location within easy reach of many places to visit. They are very well equiped with everything we required and lots of space including a garden for the kids to play. Greg and Carol the owners were very welcoming. They organised for the two 3 year olds to groom and ride the horses which they loved and was a highlight of their holiday.

The cottages are excellent. They are situated overlooking lovely views of the countryside. They have been made to a high standard and have everything you could possibly need to make for a lovely selfcatering holiday. The kitchen/diner is well equipped, as are the comfortable bedrooms and great sitting room, with log burning fire. We took our 11month old puppy, who loved the walks. Not too many miles away are lovely beaches and many other things to see. This an ideal place for either visiting relatives, or just relaxing and seeing beautiful Scotland.
