We stayed at this lodge the first week of August and really enjoyed are stay! The rooms were clean and very confortable and the staff was there to please. Carlos, the owner helped get us reservations for whale watching and a mangrove tour. The room included a hot breakfast which was cooked to order. The food was wonderful.

Overall, Carlos and the staff made the stay very pleasant!

I can not say enough about the Mar y Selva staff and facilities, they were fantastic. My family and I stayed there for a week during the Whale festival and we absolutely had a blast. The hotel was exactly as advertised (very refreshing if you have ever been sucked in by the advertisements and then arrived to find that it wasn't exactly what was advertised or the photos were years old) and the staff was very helpful and responsive. We were able to see the whales and enjoy other once in a lifetime experiences as well. While in Costa Rica we also went horse back riding, zip lining and took a tour of the local environmental reserves. All in all just a fantastic experience.

Room Tip: If you are a family, ask for the adjoining cabanas, there is a connecting door that enables you to k...

I stayed at Mar y Selva for over a month and I was realy sad to leave this place in the end. I was surprised about the friendliness of the personnel - it´s just the way they are. The cabins are roomy and clean + a comfortable bed. The restaurants view to the sea is amazing. No problems with parking. I´d be happy to come back to this place one day!

My husband and I were truly saddened to depart this hotel, after enjoying wonderful days there. The location is in the heart of the tree canopywith viewa through the canopy to the Ocean just one kilometer away.
Our cabin was modern and spotless, with excellent airconditioning and fan if necessary. The bathroom was large and again spotless. In the room a comfortable bed with safe and small refridgerator. Your own balconey provides closeup views of jungle fawna. Each morning we had a wonderful breakfast while enjoying spectacular views, with incredible numbers of birds flying through the trees. We saw many Tucans, scarlet McCaws and variopuis parotts etc The owner was extremely helpful and knowlegable obout local activities from bird watching tours, zip lining, and whale watching. Good food and restaurants were plentiful nearby.
We are only too happy to recommmend this hotel to other travellers

Room Tip: The rooms at the back best for seaviews

The eco-lodge is situated on a hill, surrounded by unspoiled nature and has a very nice view of the ocean. It is a very peacefull place often visited by local animals, yet it is very safe because there are no dangerous animals around. You can leave your window open all night and wake up to the sounds of nature which is a great experience & start to every day! The pool is unique in the area, it is clean and has magnificent views surrounding it. Each morning you can enjoy the breathtaking view while having a fresh organic breakfast in the eating area of the main building. The bungalows are nice, roomy and clean. Each has a large private balcony where you can enjoy your evening wine and relax. The bungalows have a large tub,tv, a/c, safe, fridge, closet area and hair drier to fit all your needs/preferences. The owner, Martha, is willing to help you in any way possible. She helped us pick and schedule many great tours in the area. You need to have a 4x4 to safely travel around since all the side roads are curvy, bumpy unpavaed and often steep. You need your own transportation if you want to experience anything outside the lodge and there are many wonderful places you dont want to miss out. The lodge provides complimentary breakfast but does not provide lunch and dinner. This is another reason you should come with a 4x4, and the area is rich in a great variety of restaurants and bars and there are also two grocery stores cca 7 miles away. The lodge also has a safe gated parking area. There are many local beaches which a are truly unspoiled. Most of the beaches are a part of the national park and charge a $6 entrance fee and provide safe parking. Our experience of the Uvita beach was spectacular and worth the entrance fee, one day we walked for three hours along the beach and didn't meet a single person. But on the weekends it gets bussier. There are also free public beaches which don't provide parking but you can walk to them from the lodge which is a mile away. The eco-lodge is a safe jungle retreat, great for romance, advanture, or family vacation. The staff and the owner are very nice people who will make your stay very pleasent. Highly recommended! :)
