“Surprised & Delighted ! Branxton beats Singleton .”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 February 2014

I stayed at the Branxton Motel on January 21st 2014 , I was doing shows in Singelton and Maitland the next day.
I didnt pre book accommodation as I usually do for my show trips and got caught out with nothing avaliable in singleton or surrounds.
I headed to Branxton with a view to staying in cessnock which i knew had vacancies. i stumbled upon the Branxton House Motel and decided to stay as it was close to Singleton.
Steven the host and owner was fantastic, helpful and couteous .
the Room was great , big , clean , great TV and comfy bed .
also had FREE wifi which is a necessity for me when Im touring.
the rate was cheap and the room a delight to relax , had great aircon and shower.
the Hunter valley has become a Repository for Mining types , they are like the plague everywhere
you go they are eating sleeping and using every facility in Locust like fashion.
Dont worry about singleton , stay in Branxton , super close and not infested with miners and their trucks.
the Branxton Motel is very central to the hunter with the mining plague .
totally recommend this Motel

Room Tip: The Rooms closer to the office have better Wifi reception.

Great value for 7 people for 2 nights. Beds were comfy and room was clean, only the shower was a bit mouldy. Friendly staff.
The town its self didn't have much in it. When we wanted to eat we drove the 20 minutes into Cessnock.
Overall a nice experience and wouldn't mind staying there again if I'm in the the area.

Room Tip: The further towards the back are quieter, because you can't hear as many cars from the road driv...

This is my third stay at the Branxton House Motel, and I will be back again for a fourth visit in the not too distant future. It is really well situated for exploring the Hunter Valley, and only a short but pretty drive to the Pokolbin area. Stayed in room 7 this time, nice and roomy, clean and comfortable. Road traffic noise would be an issue but thankfully the windows are double glazed. Internet access is good.

The proprietors are always very helpful and friendly. Prices are significantly lower than some of the more up-market accomodation choices in the area. It really is a little gem, especially for the budget conscious.

Can recommend dinner at the Hotel across the road - very good pub grub. If you're staying for a big event such as A Day On The Green or CMC Rocks The Hunter etc, local buses pick up and drop off at the door - very convenient.

Lucy looked after my parents and myself with great hospitality. The rooms are lovely and big, clean and well presented. The bed is comfortable, had a good night sleep. The price was reasonable for that area, although I think that breakfast should be included considering that there are no cafe's open in the area on a Sunday. Overall, had a good stay. I would recommend it.

Room Tip: Ask for the back section. Pub across the road gets noisy at night.

4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 December 2012 via mobile

Room 7 was of a good size for 2 adults and 2 small children (one on a foldout bed). Very clean and neat - well presented. Manager was very friendly and showed us to our room, provided a jug of milk, bmade sure that we knew were everything was and that the A/C was working. Lacks some amenities such as the advertised (website) guest bbq area and the room did not have an iron/ironing board but for $155 for one night I would definitely stay again.

Clean and tidy room, big bathroom, coffee & tea facilities with fresh milk and everything working properly. Lovely friendly staff. Had a good nights sleep, the doof doof music at the hall next door suitably deadened by the double glazed windows which had been pointed out by our host as she opened the door to our room when we arrived to show us how all the appliances worked. Much better value than the more expensive "up market" accommodation around the Hunter.

3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 October 2012

Our room was clean and bed comfortable. Because we came to Branxton for the annual Opera in the Vineyard at Wyndham Estate, we paid $125.00 more than usual:- $375.00 for minimum 2 night stay. This is a blatant rip-off on the part of Branxton House Motel, which does very nicely all the time being in a mining area. I booked in March 2012 paid 50%deposit,the balanceupon check-in.In March I requested a room at the rear, knowing the motel is on the very busy New England Hwy. We were given a room at the front and even with the double glazing found it very noisy. The manager moved us to another rear room next day. When I asked why we did not get the promised rear room both nights was told that 'people setting up opera stage had those rear rooms.' So workers at Wyndham Est. were given preference over interstate guests!!. A DVD player WAS supplied at prior request. Housekeeping very good, though we had to ask diffident manager for a 2nd. towel. The rear room used for 1 mine employee normally. Value:$125p/n.NOT $187.50!!!!!

Room Tip: Ask for one at the rear, NOT at the front! Double glazing makes no difference at front.
