We picked this hotel for a stopover between Athens Airport and Rafina port on first overnight in Greece. Very nice hotel, clean, with very helpfull staff in reasonable price . Easy transport from Rafina and Airport.

If you want a dorm like hotel with less than tasty food, tiny rooms, old/dirty furniture and dirty carpets then this place is for you. The shower has a little vent which when opened you can not only see pipes in the wall but the other shower in the room next door. I heard from several folks that their water pressure would go out completely while taking the shower as well.

I took the stairs most days because the elevator took forever - one day I discovered a Q Tip on the staircase when I left in the morning and it was still there when I came back several hours later. Absolutely disgusting.

While the breakfast was complimentary there was not much I wanted to eat and ended up buying yogurt and fruit at the shop down the street. The wait staff also cleaned tables by using a duster and pushing crumbs onto the floor.

I will say that the staff was very helpful and pleasant and if you can get over the above, the location on the water is better than the craziness of the city and much more peaceful.. Ena Pizza/Restaurant across the street was great too - we ate there several times.

FOR THOSE WANTING TO SITE SEE IN ATHENS: This hotel is about an hour outside of Athens. The bus picks up at the top of the hill and was 3 euros one way. And the airport is a 30-40 minute cab ride. Pricey.

This hotel is NOT convenient to Athens Airport. They will make you believe it is. Try 60 euros and 50 minutes away in a taxi. It is much farther away than they will tell you. DO NOT TRUST THEM. My wife and I paid dearly for this by having to spend the brief night in the airport. We simply did not have enough time (or money) to make it all the way to their hotel and back. Worse yet??? They still charged us when we called to complain and ask for a refund. I can only imagine how many people they take advantage of with this trick. Too bad there are dishonest scum suckers in the world like this.

We stayed at the Atttica beach hotel one night before leaving Greece - it's conveniently 40 minutes from the airport on the seafront in Mati. The hosts at the reception desk were friendly providing extra pillows on request - WiFi in the rooms is free Big + the pool is sheltered from the East wind - It caters for tour groups but the manager recommended the Pharos taverna next door where we enjoyed the best (huge) grilled pork chop that I had in Greece. In summary - decent, very clean, everything works and great seafront views.

We booked just one night in the hotel as we were worried we may be stranded in the islands and miss our flight home as there was a general strike in Athens so we travelled to Rafina and took a taxi which cost 7 euros. The hotel is a little faded in places but our room on the third floor was lovely, situated right above the small beach and overlooking the bay and islands. It was very clean and airy. The buffet breakfast had a huge variety. There is free internet access so we were easily able to check in online for our flight and print off our boarding passes. The staff allayed our fears regarding the strike and said they would make sure we were at the airport in time for our flight if the buses were on strike. They also allowed us to keep our room until 2.00 pm (normal check out is 12 noon) . As it turned out the airport buses weren't on strike and the hotel provided free transport to Rafina to enable us to catch the bus. We were very impressed with their kindness.

Let me put it this way. We were born in the seventies, but when we stayed in this hotel it felt like we were back in the sixties. We are from Spain and we remember that beach hotels looked exactly like this when we were little kids.
This hotel needs a complete renovation urgently and it's dirty. Apart from that, when we got to the room we had to kill over 15 mosquitoes that were flying around and
ready to bite us. When we got out to have dinner, we saw 3 buses full of serbian teenagers arriving at the hotel. As you might have guessed already, they stayed up till late, singing, drinking, talking out loud...
Breakfast was just awful. It was our last night in Greece, and we needed a hotel close to the airport and Cape Sounio (which we were going to visit in the morning). We obviously made a big mistake.

We stayed in Mati at the Hotel Attica Beach for one night on our way from Delphi to an early next morning flight from Athens to Crete. We didn't arrive at the hotel until around 6:00 at night, and therefore weren't looking to do too much at the hotel or in the town before flying out the next morning.

This hotel is older and very basic, but right on the coast. It has a decent size pool, and a small beach right there. We were given a room that connected to another guest room (probably set up for a parent -child vacation scenario) - both rooms had balconies overlooking the water. We were there on a Friday night in late August, and a bar right next to the hotel had live music we could hear in our room - not sure how often this might be the case, but it wasn't overly loud.

My sense is that Mati is a town that may have been grand in the past, but is past its prime. I think the hotel has probably seen better days as well, but for a short stopover that is much more reasonably priced than Athens, this place worked. There didn't appear to be many choices in town for dinner - we ended up at a open air cafe about 5-10 minutes walk from the hotel and had a simple dinner watching the sun go down over the water.

  • Liked — About a 30 minute drive to Athens airport
  • Tips/Secrets — Hotel is good for one night stay on way to somewhere else , I wouldn't stay there longer than that
