Similar experience to Shazzy. Owner was charming, couldn't do more to make my stay more enjoyable. Good atmosphere in the bar and well appointed rooms with quality fittings. Hope to visit again next time I'm in the area.

This was meant to be an indulgent ,kid free, weekend for my partner and I.
We had a four hour journey to the hotel but could not get in upon our arrival, due to the facility being locked up, we rang the number we'd been given to call should this be the case but recieved no answer.. we had to wait hour and a half before we were able to get into the hotel and access our room.
The waiting staff were unattentive and had little knowledge of the food on the menu. We were brought the wrong wine, which was dumped on our table un opened, several portions of our meals were literally inedible. (vinegarette salad dressing on pate is not a pleasant dish, nor are burnt mixed grills)
However the most disagreeable thing about our visit was the landlord, who was rude, curt and on the whole objectionable. Sadly he spoilt our weekend away with his attitude and manner, we will not return to the Lea Gate and I would strongly recommend others stay away until it is in new hands.

we booked an evening out with another couple - a rare one at that and were sorley disappointed.
The food was ok but i could have done just as well at home. Service left a lot to be desired - when at one point the waitress put the wrong meal in front of the wrong person, she realised what she had done and walked away leaving us to sort out our own meals.
At 10pm we finished our meal and walked through to the bar to settle the bill and finish the evening off with a drink - it was a saturday night after all! - the bar tender said 'were closed'. No hint of manners or politness just ' were closed'. So we made our way out to the car park to decide where to finish off our evening only to have every single light turned off, leaving us in pitch darkness to find our way to our cars across a terribly pot holed car park.
Not somewhere we will be going back to, which is a terrible shame as they have a lovely garden area - would be lovely on a summers afternoon if not for the staff!!
I should point out we did not stay for the night so i can't comment on the rooms.

This is a superb family run establishment in the lincolnshire countryside, the staff could not have been more welcoming. The Millenium suite is excellent with a sizeable room and whirlpool spa. (£85 per night as the spa was broken, but they did advise of this on booking.) The atmosphere in the bar is great and alcohol is very reasonably priced. The food is excellent and portions are huge, so I didn't get dessert. Breakfast was at a time of our choosing and couldn't be faulted. A superb short break.
