Owner description: A partnership between the Royal Air Force and Lincolnshire County Council provides public access to the home of the RAF Battle Of Britain Memorial Flight at RAF Coningsby. The RAF BBMF hangar is located within the boundaries of RAF Coningsby and viewing the flight’s historic aircraft at close quarters is available only by guided tour. You will be shown around the hangar by volunteer guides, many of whom have first hand experience of the aircraft. They give freely of their time, being keen to ensure the public appreciate this living tribute to all RAF aircrew and ground crew who gave their lives in the Second World War .

This venue is a must go and see should you be visiting the area around Coningsby. It is truly fantastic if you're an aviation enthusiast and not to be missed. I was fortunate to have a contact within the RAF's BBMF and I had a personal guided (not open to anyone) tour that lasted 4 hours, including a full inside tour of the Lancaster bomber and the Dakota paratroop carrier used during D-day. I loved every minute of the tour and look forward to returning to see how things have developed with the engineering work being undertaken on the Spitfires and Hurricanes in the hangar. For other visitors, you'll be given a tour by the members of staff who have expert knowledge of the aircraft and their history and how they ended up at the BBMF. You will not be disappointed. This is a great place to visit. Highly recommended.

Keeping memories alive is something important to me, so a visit to BBMF Visitor centre seemed the ideal way to spend some time in Lincolnshire. I was not disappointed. It was particularly touching to be there on 11th November and great to see groups of children there learning about the aircraft and people who served in them, in a way which I'm sure will stay in their memories. The free visitor centre is quite interesting but if you are going you really must go on the hangar tour to see the stars of this attraction. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and interesting, with a combination of technical facts and poignant true stories relating to the aeroplanes. Everyone should hear the stories passed on here and nobody could fail to be moved an slightly in awe of the spectacle of the aircraft. On a rainy November day what better way to spend a couple of hours? The tour price very reasonable for the privilege and money well spent for an extremely worthy cause.

Went with my son Joni and was very impressed by the experience , the chap who showed us around was a d day vet and his description of the aircraft was what sounded an honest and frank account of what happened to these amazing machines and the people who flew them .although only a small number of planes too look at it is worth the entry £6 adults £4 kids, allow about an hour .

Absolutely stunning. Our elderly guide captured out attention from the start. I love WWII aircraft and never tire of seeing them and hearing about them. A Spitfire always makes me weak at the knees, such is it's beauty. A number of Spits, a Hurricane, a Dakota and of course the Lanc. A wonderful time.

We went here a couple of weeks ago and it opened my eyes, we had to pay to see the aircrafts but well worth the small charge to have a tour inside the hanger or you can look around the souvenir shop for free, we spent a couple of hours looking round the giant hanger being told just about everything there is to know about the planes by the tour guide, very nice and polite gentleman, in fact all the staff were more than helpful.
Great place to visit
