“Banamici Rocks!”
Reviewed 20 April 2014

This hotel is wonderfully located across from the plaza. From the beginning, Cheri & the staff were friendly, helpful and attentive to all of our needs. My favorite part was the lovely enclosed courtyard and the terrace with great views of the town. The medium-size hotel was charming with great art work everywhere, colored walls and the rooms were clean, comfortable with plenty of hot water. I'd stay here again. Sonora is beautiful and Banamici is close to Arizpe, land of Juan Bautista de Anza, the great Spanish soldier who took families to settle San Francisco, CA in 1776.

Room Tip: Staff provided bottled water and the owners were happy to take suggestions.

We ventured into Mexico March 30 via car for our fist time. We were amazed at the
ease and the peacefulness we felt as we drove through Sonora Mexico. When we
arrived at the hotel La Posada, we were greeted by Darrin and Cheri Jones (owners), they could not have been more welcoming and gracious. Carmen (manager) was was so friendly and helpful, she always went the extra mile.
Also the food was great, and the presentation was excellent.
Our room was fresh, unique, and the bed was comfortable.
La Posada is a true getaway...we enjoyed walking around Banamichi...
a very quiet. friendly place.
Of course, we will be returning
A wonderful way to spend our anniversary!

La Posada Del Rio is a beautiful and creatively decorated hotel with art from around the world- a feast for the eyes, and Banamachi is a quaint, quiet little town to rest your soul. While there, my family enjoyed wonderful hospitality, fantastic food from the restaurant at the hotel, and scenic hiking not far from town. Hanging out on the rooftop terrace was another treat, and a great place to relax and enjoy the sunrise and sunset. The owners, Darrin and Cheri Jones, and the hotel manager, Carmen, go out of their way to make you feel at home and enjoy your stay. We can't wait to go back!

I've stayed now in a couple of the hotels in Banamichi (yes... surprisingly there are a few) and La Posada is by far and away the best. The staff led by Carmin and owners Cheri and Darrin are great and very attentive to your needs (if you have any of course). They also have a great in-house restaurant that serves up a variety of mexican cuisine that changes daily which is great as there aren't too many options in this small town. Darren also has a good selection of wine and beers which is great to enjoy on their expansive rooftop deck as you watch the sunset. If you want a great, relaxing Sonoran experience this place is for you.

What a wonderful weekend at the La Posada Del Rio! The owners, Darrin and Sheri and all the employees treated us above and beyond expectations. We traveled with many of our friends from Tubac, AZ, which was special in-of-itself, however, by the time we left we felt like we had made more friends. In addition to the comfortable accommodations, we were able to explore the local culture in the surrounding area...an extra bonus!

Seriously consider staying at the La Posada Del Rio on your next trip to Banámichi, it will be the only place we will stay when we travel back to the area!

We enjoyed our stay very much. The rooftop terrace is a lovely spot to sit and relax and smell the citrus blossoms. The owners make you feel welcome and will give assistance in arranging or recommending local points of interest. Lunch or dinner can be prepared onsite if desired. The food was excellent. Our two-day stay was well priced and well worth it.

Room Tip: We had a single room - it was all we needed. Each room has great character.

My wife and I just returned from a short stay in this wonderful place. Everything was perfect, the staff gracious and the owners, Darrin and Cheri became friends. Sharing happy hour on the sky deck within one hour of our arrival, was just what we all needed.

Room Tip: We liked the second floor locations, close to the sky deck
