“Outstanding on all levels”
Reviewed 19 November 2013

So.. I am here in a business trip with my partner. We are on our own this evening and we stumble across this groovy looking bar. It looks popular with the locals so we pop in for a glass of prosseco. We decide that we really need to have a meal and although at first glance it looked expensive we decided what the heck and asked about a table. We were invited upstairs to their main eating area where the atmosphere was excellent and high class. We both had the tasting menu at €65 with wine. Well quite honestly it's one of the bets meals I've had, ever and if you look at my other reviews I've been to some nice places. If you are in this area then you MUST go to this place. Just outstanding.

“back to the Romans, Byzantyne and Medieval times in a Very Good Restaurant !”
Reviewed 7 November 2012

I have recently been to the restaurant in the historic center of Gellius Oderzo, in the province of Treviso.
Starting from the city center, everything was perfect.
Good choice of appetizers and qualified personnel. Immediately you enter the door of the restaurant we walked into the parallel world.
The architecture of the restaurant is an elegant time travel experience.
As we did not have too much time we decided to go for the "A la Carte".
The amuse-bouche to start with was a beautiful and delicate
Food was cooked to perfection, all was very good.

“Great food, where modern ambience meets history! In the lower open floor you find Romans and Byzantine ruins.”
Reviewed 25 October 2012

Had a great evening in this restaurant. it was recommended by friends who visited a few weeks ago hence, my trip whilst in the area. The restaurant is next to the beautiful main square in the city of Oderzo. If you are driving there, it is the right turning just before the bridge, there is plenty of parking space in front of the restaurant. In the evening it might be difficult to recognise it, as there are no windows to the outside. The entrance is at the back, up a few steps, first door on the left handside. The restaurant itself is set in a modern/early 90's setting however, the open lower ground floor consist of a suspended passageway which takes you through the escavation ruins found on site dating back to the Romans, Byzantyne and Medieval times. if you have time go for the degustation menu, accompanied by wine. As we did not have too much time we decided to go for the "A la Carte". The amuse-bouche to start with was a beautiful and delicate mini zuppa di fagioli with ginger, the scampi con focaccia al nero, the verdura caramellata con crema al parmigiano, the costata sorana (organic meat - medium of course), very tender and cooked to perfection, all was very good. The dessert was a beautiful brioche caramellata with ice cream. Coffee and petit four not to be missed.

“Excellent dining in the past, future and present.”
Reviewed 19 September 2008

My partner and I had a wonderful lunch at Gellius which is also a museum. The architecture of the restaurant is an elegant time travel experience.

The manager and sommelier Adriano Fumis was the essence of a perfect host. He received us like close relatives. The setting at table was crisp white linen and elegant silver.

The circular shape of the restaurant, with the wooden supporting beams meeting at a centre ceiling, give you a feeling of floating in a slowly revolving ship.

The meal was a memorable, seasonal gastronomic tour de force. We started with amuses, which left us gasping for more.

My partner went for a seafood three course set, and I went for a meat one.

Both choices were excellent, starting light and ending in an explosion of flavours.

Half way through the meal, we went down to explore the museum which dates back to the Roman times. The whole space is airy and light, a perfect fusion of ancient and ultra modern building materials.

The chef Alessandro Breda finally served a dolce to remember for a long time to come... Grazia tutti!!

My partner wants’ us to come back and settle in Oderzo, because the ambience of the town and the great food offered!!!

No wonder the restaurant has a Michelin star and is a member of Jeunes Restaurateeurs D' Europe...
