It is hard to say much negative about here as it is hard to put my finger on what is wrong but it feels 'odd', but firstly there is not mention of a 'hotel' so I found myself driving around a uni campus confused until I gave up and went into the development centre to discover it is actually the hotel! It is clean and tidy but the rooms feel like uni accommodation, small but fit for purpose. Going to breakfast seemed to confuse staff so we ended up sharing a table with another couple who were equally confused as to why the other (multiple) tables were not laid up!
Evening food was a (bad) buffet but again this confused staff as we were given a piece of paper to declare how many courses, how many of us had! Oh and sound proofing was poor, listening to someone argue on the phone at 4am is never fun, a complaint to front desk was met with an 'oh sorry' but no action. Staff themselves seem caring and willing but lacking training, which is worrying for a 'training centre'

Room Tip: Find somewhere that actually knows it is a hotel!!

You wouldn't generally think of a university & management centre for a place to stay, but you are missing out especially at weekends and non-term times with bargain rates. Superb accommodation, food & service in a rural quiet location. If you are look for 4*+ accommodation at little more than B & B rates near Bedford & Milton Keynes you won't go far wrong stopping here.

Room Tip: Ask for one of the newly refurbished ones.

Stayed during a sub-zero week in December and felt like the place was economising on heating. It did warm up eventually.

The bedrooms are compact. Very clean and well decorated, but a double room is really only suitable for one person. This is more apparent as there’s only one chair in the room. As a study room for one person, it is sufficient, with a good sized desk and suitable lighting. Use the surface as a desk though and there are no other surfaces in the room suitable as a dressing table. The two bedside tables are only big enough for the TV remote control, a phone and a drink.

The room was clean, well maintained and decorated in a contemporary style. The hotel as a whole does not have much character. It’s like an out of town business park type development. Functional, clean and business like. The hotel is on the University campus, there was little through traffic at night and it was very quiet.

Rooms have a fridge, which is a good touch. Mine was quiet, but some people I met there said they turned theirs off at night as it made clunking noises. The fridge is topped up with a complementary bottle of water each day which is a pleasant touch. The room tea and coffee tray provided the essentials, but was basic; Digestive biscuits and only enough sachets for 2 weak coffees. On the up side, there was free tea, coffee and juices available from the lobby area and if you are lucky, maybe biscuits or cake, too.

The heating in the room was a little annoying. It’s an electric fan heater, so if you want heat, you have to put up with the constant drone of the fan. Like the fridge, at night everyone I spoke to had to turn the heater off as it was noisy when sleeping. The rooms are well insulated, so that wasn’t too bad and it warmed up quickly in the morning. There was a timer setting on the heater, but no instructions...

The staff were very helpful and pleasant throughout the week and if you eat in the restaurant, the buffet breakfasts and dinners are very good. I had a problem with hot food every day though, you could never get a warm plate, so meals got cold quickly. Maybe it was the weather, it was an exceptionally cold week.

On balance, for about £110 per night for dinner, bed and breakfast, it is good value.

This is housing for those attending management development programs at Cranfield so has been set up like a business hotel. It's clean, modern and well set up. It has all the conveniences in room - internet connection (LAN and wifi), mini fridge, ironing board with iron and standard TV and radio. It is not overly luxurious but also not a bottom of the barrel budget hotel.

There is a small bar near the lobby and a restaurant that serves breakfast and dinner (not sure about lunch). Besides the restaurant, other food choices at night would be the university's student union, a food truck that parks outside the student union or to take a trip into Milton Keynes.

In a nice quiet area, I'd stay here again just to get away from the rush of the city.

We chose this as we were going to the Moto GP and hadn't managed to book anything closer to the event. This is much nicer than any of the budget chains we have stayed in before and, unlike them, not near a busy road so we were able to sleep with our windows open which made a nice change. This is a business centre as its name says so is run as such, however I think some good 4 star hotels could learn from their friendliness and service. Very clean, and very bright in the main bar area so not much ambience or character, but what you would expect from its main function for training, meetings etc. Our room was quite compact but had all we needed, bathroom was very clean and looked new. Double bed wasn't the most comfortable we had slept in but no other complaints. A nice touch was 2 complimentary bottles of water in the minibar, again, something other hotels should be doing. We had breakfast included in our rate which made it better value than a budget hotel and was very good. Hot and cold buffet with a choice of cooked to order breakfast dishes. The only slight complaint we had was that the restaurant was closed the night we stayed there due to a private function and we hadn't been told. However the bar menu was available and although this is limited it was all we needed. A very tasty Thai curry!
