Thank you very much for your kind tripadvisor review. Unfortunately, tripadvisor tends to encourage negative feedback and it would be lovely if we could simply cut and paste the 98% positive reviews and comments cards we receive. All feedback is collated onto a spreadsheet and discussed at our management meetings.

We are delighted to hear that you enjoy visiting Drewton's and I am sure you will love our new-look Afternoon Tea, with a selection of side salads now included. We have even produced an actual Afternoon Tea gift card, for two people, as we were printing out bespoke vouchers on our letterheads for this popular offering on our menu. The cards are going down a treat and we hope that they will again be popular this coming Christmas! It makes for wonderful treat for a special occasion!

It is important for us to hear back from our customers so that we can build on both positive and constructive comments. We have the feedback cards in the shop/restaurant and try to encourage as much feedback as possible.

Our ethos is simple but our offering is vast, whilst working closely with over 250 local Yorkshire farmers, producers, growers and suppliers. We are proud of our menu, many in-house events supporting various local charities, and we receive excellent feedback when catering for private parties and special occasions. We have received many awards since opening in October 2010 and our local customers are very much part of these successes.

The shop boasts a butchers with good quality meats and three entertaining butchers, the deli offers so many of our award-winning pies and pastries, the shop sells a great selection of fruit/veg, breads, preserves, pantry items and a good choice of wines and beers ... and we even have the Luxuries area which is great when needing a card or present.

We employ around 48 members of staff, all local, and we encourage apprenticeships and students to help further their work experience and put them through their paces with courses and qualifications!

If you have any special requests then please let us know .... but, in the meantime, please keep in touch and enjoy Drewton's as much as we do! Also, keep an eye on our website for future events, or pick up a newsletter in-store.

And, if you have friends/family from further away then we also have two 5* rated holiday cottages located on The Drewton Estate.

Kind regards

“Very good”
Reviewed 6 April 2014

My friend treated me to a lunch here as a birthday present. We had a great time! Easily found, adequate parking, good service and good food. The loos were very clean too. Not cheap but what you pay for is what you get! I'll go there again (even if I have to pay next time)!

“AVOID!!”
Reviewed 10 March 2014 via mobile

We ordered two meat pies with drinks and my wife couldn't eat hers because of the amount of fat/sinew and veins in the steak! So as she had only had a mouthful and complained the manager said she would knock the drinks off! We were shocked to get the bill with the charge for the unbeaten meal still there?! So complained again and she knocked the meal off but put the drinks back on poor show Drewtons £9.95 is very poor value for money there are many better places to eat nearby!!

Thank you for your review.

All meals are meal-checked and this was only brought to our attention at the end of the meal when the gentleman had eaten all of his meal and the lady had only eaten some of hers. The Front of House offered to take the drinks off the bill, as a gesture, but when pointed out that it was the pie you were not happy with, she did amend this and took the steak pie off instead.

The problem was quickly addressed with the chefs and all pies made in this particular batch were taken out of stock. We pride ourselves on our award-winning steak pie, made to our Baker's special recipe, and it was most concerning to hear that some fatty pieces were clearly not taken out of the mixture after cooking and before cooling, which would be the usual process.

The pie mixture is made in huge batches, due to demand, and fat is included when cooking to enhance the flavour of the pie mix and gravy. It is quickly taken out before being made into pies and it is obvious to the eye too. There has clearly been an oversight along the way, hence the reason we took immediate action to remove the remaining pies, in case this was the case in any others.

We thank you for bringing this to our attention and assure you that we intend the best for our customers. We would like to invite you both back for a quality award-winning steak pie dinner by way of compensation. Could you kindly telephone the office to make a booking, giving some form of identity as to your name and linking it with this review.

I would like to remind you of your previous review which proves that we do our utmost to deliver good quality food and service.

Kind regards

“Jam”
Reviewed 24 February 2014

i've been visiting drewtons for a couple of years now
each time we have the Yorkshire afternoon tea
the Lemon curd has now disappeared which was delicious and last week the jam was like water and ran off our date and walnut scones, which were nice
the teapot had so many fingerprints and stains of it that it didn't feel very clean.
attention to detail seems to be slipping
and why oh why is the tea served from one counter and the scones from another and never the twain meet at the same time, as always waiting ages for one or the other

Thank you for your review. On receipt of your review, we immediately addressed your comments with the Head Chef and the kitchen team.

Jam had been delivered to us, with a poor consistency, and was on one side waiting to be sent back. It should not have been passed through to the kitchen and it certainly should not have been sent out. This was quickly addressed and removed from the kitchen and the batch has since been replaced. A local producer makes to our recipe and they had not followed it properly, hence the problem.

With regard to the unpolished teapot, we have various potwashers and we are constantly on their backs for following correct procedures and the importance of polishing and drying properly. Likewise, the coffee room team should have known better and this was a poor oversight on their part. I can only suspect that they were under pressure at the time as we can be extremely busy.

Unfortunately, we have to work within the stipulations set out at the beginning, when the farm shop and restaurant plans were agreed and building work took place. It limited us to space in certain areas, which still causes issues now that we are an established and highly recognised business. The reason we have to display our cakes and scones on the Deli is two-fold. Our customers can purchase direct from the Deli and it gives the opportunity for our diners to view the wide selection of cakes and scones on offer. We do not have storage space in the kitchen or coffee room areas and our customers would not be able to view the selection on offer either, not to mention the added pressure and staffing required to manage this away from the spacious Deli area we have. I hope this answers your question.

Kind regards
