We attended a belated Christmas Party here and it was superb, the whole place was to a very high standard, great gym, pool area and most of all the staff were excellent. To add to the place it apparently was haunted by an American lady called Mary from years ago who lost her son and she roamed the corridors looking for him, we never saw her but one guy at breakfast thought he had seen a lady in a bonnet type hat! The food was terrific, the drinks were reasonably priced and the breakfast in the morning was huge. High recommend this place, if you book ask to be in the old section of the castle, the rooms are big, the ceilings high and you will be in one of the turretts of the castle, great character and great place.

Room Tip: if you book ask to be in the old section of the castle, the rooms are big, the ceilings high and you will be in one of the turretts of the castle, great character and great place.

We have just returned home after staying at Cave Castle overnight after the new years eve dance. The room we stayed in was excellent very clean and plenty of room,it had every thing we needed from a trouser press to a iron board to tea and coffee making facilities. From start to finish the staff made you feel at home and was very pleasant and friendly. The food on the evening was very good and the service was excellent. The morning breakfast started late so you could have a lie in after a good nights entertainment. I would stay there again any time,a very good start to a new year.

Room Tip: All the rooms are very good,we had friends staying in a different part of the hotel.

I stayed for one evening and was greeted by very friendly and warm reception staff. The room was lovely and I'd stay here again.
The only downside to my stay was the poor level of service I received in the bistro. I asked for a J2O and had was told they had no ice. Once I got my meal they didn't say a word to me and not a goodbye as I left.

travelled to north Yorkshire for the Christmas markets in York , and to visit the shopping outlets close by , to be honest , wanted to stay in or around York but the time of year prevented this , so looked a little further afield , and came across this gem .
both of us hadn’t been to this neck of the woods before so took a gamble and please we did .
arrived latish sat night having been frozen and then trampled by the large shopping crowds in York .
the greeting was very warm along with the lovely welcoming open fire in the hotel reception , we were quickly dispatched to our room to thaw out , unfortunately it was in the modern part , not the old castle , but we were presented with a lovely warn and spacious room which housed the largest bed I have ever slept in .

decided to eat in hotel due to the lateness of the hour , they accommodated us at the last minuet
and found us a table , live music was a welcome treat in the dining room to accompany the meal .
both ordered the lamb , as both of us are fans and can and do appreciate a well-cooked dish as we have been spoilt with our local farm shop and links to the farming stock in our home town
but the meal we had that night at the castle was (both agreed ) was the best we have ever had .

slept well in the biggest and comfy bed to rise for breakfast in the same restaurant as the evening meal , small but well appointed .
had the full Yorkshire breakfast which probably is the biggest breakfast in the world !!! but didn’t skimp on quality because to was large ( as can sometimes be the case ) .

very attentive staff , and genuinely pleasant , housed in a really lovely hotel , surrounded by some lovely scenery , including the village .
on our return journey , via York again !!! we were excitedly making plans to return to this gem .
can’t wait !
