“Gorgeous cottage in the country”

This cottage is just like a postcard - it is spaceous and tastefully decorated. The owner is attentive and helpful. The neighbors are are quite lovely too.inside there is everything you could want - including a wine fridge, a coffee maker, doggy / child gates. Outside the rear garden is large and well maintained, perfect for kids/pets and summer evening gatherings. The only caution I have is that the hot water is extremely hit and the owner provides detailed instructions on taking care in the shower. Take their advice, and be careful. Other things you might want to know - towels and linens are provided (and are luxurious), beds are very comfortable and supportive, town is just a few minutes walk away and has pubs, chip shop, chemist, grocery store. Train station is on the other side of town and quite the walk should you want to come that way. Probably a good 45 minutes with luggage.

“Perfect stay!”
Reviewed 15 August 2016 for a stay in July 2016

We were a group of four 16 year-olds who went for a walking holiday and we stayed for 2 nights. The property was perfectly situated for getting into the village centre as well getting up to the peaks. Although it was quite a small cottage it was perfect for us and very comfortable. The kitchen was small and didn't have a dishwasher but definitely fine for simple meals for four. We had a lovely time and would definitely use this property again!

“Wonderful cosy cottage”
Reviewed 22 March 2016 for a stay in March 2016

We stayed just one night in the cottage, but found it to be very comfortable, spacious and Doug made everything easy for our stay. Close to the fab Kinder Scout this cottage is close to so many great walks, we would definitely stay here again!

House was perfect for 3 generations of family - young children to pensioners, on a family reunion in the Village Hall. Town is within walking distance and small or long walks and other events a step away. There is a laminated local map welded on to the table- how inspired is that? Well designed, comfortable and well equipped accommodation, perfect for the purpose. Thanks Doug!

“Lovely place for a Peak District break”

A pleasant little cottage, found everything we needed, the hosts were easily accessible and helpful with everything, left some little snacks. The beds were comfortable and we slept well. The village is delightful and the location of the cottage is within walking distance of everything. No big supermarkets close by but a village store with the essentials. Some pubs and a chippy. Village very central for Peak District excursions. The only criticism - the toilet flush was particularly difficult to operate though we got the knack after a few days. We would stay here again.

“Good location but accommodation rather average”

I'll be honest and say I was disappointed with the cottage given the description. The location is absolutely excellent and this has been well covered by other reviewers - it is literally down the road to great pubs and fantastic walks/ runs/ cycles. However, the kitchen is very small and given there were only 2 of us I would not fancy trying to cook for 4, never mind 6. The saucepans in particular wouldn't hold enough food for more than 4 max! The lounge is also rather sparse with seating, again only having seating for 4 and the sofa not being very comfortable. And again the kitchen table has hard seats so is not very comfortable. Some of the description is frankly misleading. While the photo of the landscape is taken from the house, it is taken from a very particular angle and most of the view is over the (shared and very small) garden or other houses. I think it was good value for money, but our experience doesn't seem to match with other peoples. It was immaculately clean however.
