This place is mombasa's best kept secret.. Me and my son stayed here for 10 days and had a ball.. Everyone was very professional and service was alittle slow but good.. Only problem I had was with the hot water, which was solar powered and did not work well at times. Food Menu could use alittle upgrade from the vegetarian menu-everyone is NOT a vegetarian. but I will definitely stay here again ....

We moved to a different hotel and lost the money. Many people book here thinking it is it the Bamburi Beach Hotel - it is NOT - they are 50 yards apart but not the same. This place is crummy, poor management, not SAFE. It also attracts a lot of older men with prostitutes which is disgusting. I would not recommend staying here. The kitchen is not useful, there is not a grocery store nearby. YOU WILL BE DISAPPOINTED.

Room Tip: Go somewhere else.

The place in iself is very good, but the management should be changed. They do not care. Get one of the apartments on front row. All apartments have outdoor kitchen and "living room", that are shared with your next door neighbor. The kitchen equipment is more or less useless if you like to cook. It took the front desk 7 days to supply us with a decent knife.

The place has a lot of charm, and the staff is very friendly.

The manager does not know anything about running a lodging. He is rude, not serviceminded. He also ignores his guests.

The front desk is about the same. They ignore everything. Took us 8 days to get a bottleopener.

But if you can get past that the place absolutely is very East African with monkeys hanging around almost every morning. If you book make sure you get the front building it has a great view over the Indian Ocean.

Room Tip: Make sure you get in the front row, pool and Indian Ocean view.

A friend and I recently stayed at the Bamburi Beach Resort. We loved it! Our room and patio were very pleasant. I swam in the pool daily. The restaurant had excellent, healthy food that was well-presented without being fussy. The staff were professional and treated us like old friends. I recommend the Bamburi Beach Resort.

Overall it was a good trip and many of the other reviews suggest that the place is unclean however i disagree with this the rooms are lovely but the self catering equipment is slightly unsanitary. It is a nice hotel and for what you are paying it is completely worth it! however their are some let downs; for example if you go there be VERY aware of thieves and keep your room locked at all times when you are not there. Also at night (at about 11) there is s big problem with prostitutes hanging out at the bar with old men and this renders the outside bathrooms useless (i.e. they are being use inappropriately). Other than that it is an extremely nice place to stay, the rooms are beautiful and you can take your dogs! (Ps. if you do take your dogs be careful of other dogs on the beach!) The restaurant is well priced but it is vegetarian, however there is an absolutely brilliant Italian restaurant right next to the hotel which is a pleasure to eat at!

Room Tip: If you want to get a catering room i would advise against it, their views are not the best and are l...

IL start by saying, Bamburi Beach Resort and Bamburi beach Hotel are two different places so please dont get that confused..Im managed to stay at both so Im able to compare both which is great

Bamburi beach Resort is the cheaper one and probably has lower star rating. Id say its about a 3 star place. Both hotels are by each other.

Rooms: Bamburi Beach Resort rooms are nice and comfortable. They have got good size beds, come with the usual dressing table, plasma T.V, Air-con and shelve for your suit case. The bath room is good as well, ours had a standard shower, however there was no hot water in the morning. Towels were provided both bath and face towel. (Try book the up stairs rooms as they got better views and more private.) Also there are no sea view rooms here, we got a "sea view room" but trust me there was a large bar, dinning room and pool that blocked it.

Food: First of all the place is self catering, so there is a kitchen outside the rooms. there is also a dinning and nice living room outside the main room that is shared with another room. The kitchen seemed to have everything from pots, pans and plates. there is also a fridge to store your food but no lock on it, so no guarantee your food will be there when you come back.
The place has a restaurant which does sell some food. Its all Indian food so everything was vegetarian but nice. There are also about 3 or 4 other restaurants outside both expensive and affordable.

Facilities: There is not much to do in the hotel, there is a pool by the bar which is a great place to relax. To be very honest its a nice pool but it doesn't get much sun shine because of the surrounding buildings. The place has got a beach deck which is good to relax and watch people. At night the resort runs a club on the beach, but it was always empty when i was there.

My Opinion: This is a great place to stay if your looking for a cheap comfortable place. However be careful of your belongings because previous reviews ive read said security was poor. This place would suite people who want to spend time outside the hotel doing other things and come back at night to sleep. If your looking for a place to lie on the beach bed and tan then this is not the place. It suites young people who are on the go and might want to party at night.

Dont forget to read my review about the Bamburi beach hotel if you thinking about which one to take!!!!

Cheers

Room Tip: Remember, choose an pup stairs room and away from the bar if you want something quiet and private.

i stayed there in january 2012 and it was my worst experience ever, My friend had her wallet stolen by one of the security guards and the manager ; a very rude and ignorant indian man suggested it was a set up by my friend,,, he then refused to let any of our friends in to see us and was only interested in them for sex...horrible man indeed ....would not stay there again unless the management was changed.

Room Tip: would not recommend this place
