We visited for dinner on a Sunday evening as we were staying in Bainbridge.

On the plus side there was a good selection on the menu, the meal tasted wonderful and looked fantastic. The young staff were friendly and knowledgeable about the dishes and wine. We were celebrating our anniversary and the waiting staff decorated our desert plate - a nice touch. The bill came to about £130 including pre-dinner drinks, wine, digestifs and a 10% service charge, which was very reasonable.

On the down side we were the first table to be seated (7pm) and service was a bit rushed for the first couple of courses (mains on table by 7:30), although did slow when the restaurant became busier and we asked for a pause. As we were the only couple in the restaurant for the first half hour or so we had the waiting staff chatting between themselves about recent weddings hosted at the hotel. Not a big deal but mildly irritating. Whilst the dishes tasted fantastic the portions were a little on the small side, even for a fine dining restaurant.

On balance we had an enjoyable evening at Yorebridge House, but there wasn't really anything to set it apart from the countless other boutique hotels operating at that end of the market.

4 of us dined here and all agreed on this review. The evening was an experience but not quite in the way we expected! Firstly, important to say that the food was outstanding - 5* rating from all of us. Congratulations to the chef and his team - outstanding. But an evening out and a 5* experience is about more than the food. We arrived about 15 mins early for a 20.45 booking. We waited a long time to order and were eventually shown to our table at about 21.25. In the meantime we were offered drinks - we chose a bottle of white wine. When this arrived it was not chilled and we were not invited to taste it. When we were invited to the table we asked if someone could take our coats - the response was the pegs are over there! The same waiter then offered small talk when settling at the table which was clearly part of some kind of training but totally inappropriate in terms of what had gone before. Given that we were then late finishing our meal, before we had finished our cheese/desert the lights were dimmed! - a subtle hint? We were subsequently told that the lights were dimmed because the kitchen staff finished at 11pm! When the bill was presented we refused to pay the voluntary 10% service and explained exactly why. The waitress showed little concern over our complaints but did ask the question as to whether we were local?! There was no sign of any senior management in the dining room during our meal or as a result of our concerns. Really sorry because as others have said this is food of the highest quality.

My wife and I dined in the restaurant in November 2013 and had probably the best meal we've ever eaten. We're still surprised they have yet to be awarded a Michelin star but surely it can't be long now...

Visited Yorebridge House for Sunday lunch and very much enjoyed the experience. The food was excellent, especially the roast beef, the service was friendly and efficient and the charming décor of the restaurant in this beautiful hotel all made for a special lunch
