Malacca is quite an intriguing State in Malaysia. A State where the Malay Sultanate began and the one now without having a Sultan after the Portuguese conquered Malacca. But the history of Malacca remained alive interwined with the mythos warrior Hang Tuah with his four colleagues.

Mudzaffar reminded us that once upon a time this was where the Malay Sultanate originated. The architecture is meant to stamp its impression that this is the Hotel we should stay if we want to feel that we belonged to the Sultanate of Malacca and this can be very interesting. Yes, we stayed in this hotel partly to reflect the history of Malacca.

The Lobby is so huge in terms of its size to make you feel that you are entering a palace not a hotel. The ceiling of the hotel is very high indeed. The centre piece is the steps of a Malacca House right at the centre as you entered the door which has become one of the icon of Malacca due to its unique decor. This is the place to take your photos.

The Lobby is very spacious and the Coffee House has plenty of seats of various colour and designed to choose from. Lunch and Dinner is based on the same limited menu, while the breakfast spread is considered acceptable.

The rooms facing the back have a better view of the swimming pool and a ship built intended for a restaurant but has not been used. The ship is a reminder that Malacca was in the past a bustling port during the Dutch-English spice trade rivalry and equally the Chinese Admiral Cheng Ho did make a stopover in Malacca, thus Malacca has incorporated Chinese influence in its architecture including some of the mosques. The Dutch influence is still visible and preserved as heritage while the famous A Formosa by Portuguese is still there standing.

The design if the carpet could be better as you need to be very cafeful as when you dropped items on the carpet it would be difficult to see. The walls are quite empty with decor except certain rooms. The lighting and the bathroomvset up is not that convinient and the water pressure is not great.

If you are looking for comfort, may be DoubleTree, Equatorial, Holiday Inn or even Ibis is much better the Mudzaffar. But if you want to feel part of the history of Malacca, then Mudzaffar is the right place for you.

Parking us available at street level right in front of the drop zone and the receptionists are very friendly and they allowed us to stay up to 2.00 pm.

Well, if you would like to try something different and mire accomodative and less complaining, Mudzaffar is perfect for you but if you are a person who likes to complain about everything then this hotel is not meant for you. We enjoyed our stay for different reasons. Mudzaffar reminds us about Malacca history.

Hospitality not par with the 5 star hotel , people are not very enthusiastic, quite average
Poor WIFi connectivity and I did not able to use my laptop and watch TV too.
Breakfast di not have much choices can be better
Big toilet with 3 in 1 quite impressed
Location not surrounded by Pubs or restaurant, but more Of Local Food, But good for people IF they need quite enviroment
IF you need choices and happenings - do stay at hotels in down Town

I enjoyed my past 2 stays in this property (slight issue with 2nd stay, decided to give it another try). Worst decision ever.

Wifi was down during my entire stay (2D1N), TV was not working (technicians were apparently looking into it, but TV finally worked but signal was bad). But Wifi remained down. Appalling.

In-room safe did not work, could not use the lock function. Room door had an issue but that got fixed.

Basically the only positive stay throughout my stay is the breakfast. Sadly that is the only good thing that came out of this stay.

Be warned.

It is a last minute booking via Agoda since it is an unplanned overnight stay in Melaka.
Overall the hotel is quite clean because it is new. Love the carpet, the size of the bathroom and our view - facing the swimming pool. It has 3 side by side pools - including kiddie pool.
But on the downside, the service need a lot of improvement. The check in was slow (they unable to trace my booking since it's from agoda and they have not received the email).
There was no bell boy to help with our luggage to the room, initially it was the guard helped us to unload from the car.
The TV reception is very bad - reasoning because it is peak season so the network transmission is affected.
Called the Operator from our room but no answer, I resorted to call the main general line only then someone answered the call.
The fixtures in the bathroom you would know it's not the best in the market.... we cannot even use the rain shower coz the switch is broken.
Very poor operation and management - was promised they will send someone to check on the TV but no one came till we check out the next day. My sister even have to go down again a 12AM to the front counter to remind them to send the extra bed (requested and paid for upon check in at 9:30pm).

All of us then went for breakfast the next day - limited choice of food, very slow replenishment. I would say that this hotel is good to come NON PEAK SEASON because everything and everyone is very very slow, the kitchen / cafe staff are generally helpful but I don't think they are not capable of multitasking.

Saw from the cafe there is a ship style of room. Not sure how much or how good/bad though. The kids wanted to try, maybe next time.
The hotel is only good because it is clean and new. If it is not properly maintained, doubt they can bring more crowd to the hotel.

We booked a Deluxe King room for 4d/3n from June 14-17. When we arrived there was no bellboy help. Room was spacious but did not have towels and aircond was warm. Our room was not cleaned at all through out our stay during the 4 days, despite calling the reception, housekeeping or f2f complaints at the counter. We called multiple times and what they said was “ok we will send someone over”. That never happened at all! We had full trash in our room, sheets unchanged and towels were forcefully asked for everyday. Sleeping was uncomfortable as the room was warm. One of the worst experience we’ve had as a family staying in such a new hotel!
Would not recommend for anyone to stay here as rates are above average, no service available and customer service level is in the pits!
