I Stayed here with a group of 10 in June, we really enjoyed ourselves. The rooms were well priced and the food was good. What stuck out for me most was the high level of customer service we received. The manager of the hotel was so helpful, friendly and welcoming that I would highly recommend staying in the Ocean Hotel.

This is an average hotel overall located centrally in the small village of Dunmore East.

The bar/restaurant part of the hotel is modern seems to have been recently refurbished. I ate one meal in the restuarant and the food was good and the portions were generous.

My room, however, was pretty basic and as one other reviewer noted a bit like a hostel. The furnishings and decor were basic. The shower was tiny. My only real gripe with the room however was that the bathroom wasn't particularly clean. The floor needed to be swept and cleaned while the bath mat had an off putting stain on it. Whether the rooms are basic in style or not, it is not acceptable for the accomodation not to be properly cleaned.

This Hotel should have it's own TA page as it is recently reopened after full refurbishment as is nothing like the old reviews. Firstly the staff were very friendly and well trained, the bedrooms were completely new (bed, carpets, curtains....), the breakfast was first class (granola or good choice). The water pressure could have been better, but I'm sure this is work in progress. It was very well priced and situated in the centre of the village and walking distance to all amenities. Would not look elsewhere.

Stayed here at the end of May and it had just been newly reopened. Going by previous reviews we didnt expect much but the place seems to have been renovated tastefully. There was a great view from the sea view room and the price was excellent. Downstairs there is a lovely bar and cafe with Ipads on every table which is pretty cool. The staff were very friendly and helpful and made us feel very welcome. Breakfast and dinner was delicious. I'd recommend the fresh fish and chips. We went surfing in Tramore which is only 15 minutes away.

This hotel was more like a run-down youth hostel than a hotel. The room we were shown (before we walked out some minutes later) was overlooking a hideous flat roof-top; the smell was musty but covered over by some sickly disinfectant; the whole appearance was unsightly and plainly unclean. The bathroom was also sub-standard.
We had booked accommodation here months previously, so there was no excuse for this. We left immediately, and fortunately found an attractive B&B. Also fortunately, the village itself is a winner, and helped us forget this negative experience.

Room Tip: If anyone chooses to stay here, check the rooms first. Booking online, as we did, is too problematic...

If you are looking for luxury you are in the wrong place. The hotel is very dated to say the least but once you get over the shock of how old fashioned it is you will love it .The staff are excellent and I think that is what is appealing about this hotel. Joe even gave me €20 of the bill. I hope they get around to upgrading because it really does need a lot of decorating but I know the building is very old so maybe it is quite difficult to make much of a difference. We loved it and we will be back. Thanks to the 2 ladies who looked after us for breakfast. We had 2 evening meals there and the food is lovely
