This restaurant is one of our top five for the area, so we have been frequenting it for many years. The owners are kind enough to recognise us and greet us warmly whenever we return.

The food is always good and a cut above a lot of the other restaurants in the area, plus you have lovely views over the lake whilst you dine.

Do ask for a table on the terrace when booking.

Just fancied a night away and came across La Quartina when looking for somewhere near one of the Italian lakes. Lago Mergozzo sounded nice so we enquired on Friday about availability for the following night. We soon received a friendly reply from Laura confirming our reservation for the Romantic package, a night's stay with breakfast and seven course degustation menu. Mergozzo is a delightful village with ancient houses and three churches to be found along tiny cobbled streets winding up steeply from the lakeside. The hotel has a very easily accessible private carpark which is almost on the "beach". Our room on the third floor had a small balcony and great view over the lake. There is a very nice peaceful sitting room on the second floor for guests and a terrace with sun loungers etc. The bed was supremely comfortable.
After a wander around the village we were looking forward to dinner and everything was as delicious as we hoped.
Starting with a chilled glass of prosecco and delicious selection of breadsticks, we were then treated to seven courses, all just the right size and the serving timed perfectly, giving us a little break between each, and each accompanied by both red and white Wine from the Piedmont area.
Dishes included carpaccio of veal with pear and gorgonzola, gnocchi, ravioli with a fish filling, pan fried fish from the lake , duck breast with honey. All beautifully prepared and cooked.
Breakfast was very good too with fresh fruit salad, home made apple strudel, as well as cheese and ham and a great selection of jams etc for the rustic bread.
We will certainly go back to this friendly comfortable and peaceful place.

Room Tip: Ask for lake view.

We enjoyed a 2-day stax at La Quartina, returning for the second time.
We've been upgraded in "La Resedicence" in a larger room. The room was very comfortable and quiet.
Our choice was a "Weekend Gourmet" Package. For this price we have a 4 course dinner with wines and the romm with breakfast.
The reason why we returned there was mainly because of the quality of the restaurant. This cuisine is absolutely perfect! Thank you Laura!
@ see you next year!

All that's best in this sort of place. Friendly atmosphere, very good food, generous breakfast, lovely comfortable rooms.

Plenty of space to stretch out on private balconies and raised sun terrace, very comfortable reading room, noting too much trouble for the very helpful staff.

Good easy safe private parking.

Room Tip: Lakeside rooms are perfect !

We know this hotel for more than 15 years. It is a good stop if you com from north Europe and you want to visit Italy.
The kitchen is outstanding. Laura is a fine person who loves to cook with fresh local products. Her husband can give you more information for the wine. If you can sit outdoors you feel like in heaven.
The staff speaks also French and English.
The hotel stay on the side of Lake Mergozzo and only 5 min walk from the town.
The hotel itself is very clean but small. It has also a parking for your car. It takes only 5 min from Mergozzo to Lake Maggiore.
They also have apartments.

Room Tip: If possible you ask for a room vieuw on the Lake.

We have been regular visitors to the restaurant at La Quartina for the last six years and have consistently enjoyed it. The setting on the edge of lake Mergozzo is lovely, so a table on the terrace is a must. When we arrived for dinner the owners greeted us warmly, remembering us from our visits in previous years. The food was excellent, the duck salad starter and the primi of ravioli stuffed with aubergine being worthy of particular mention. The wine list is also extensive and offers good quality wines at reasonable price points.

Overall, we had a delightful evening and shall certainly be back!

This food is incredible - That’s all there is to say.

I didn’t stay in the hotel so I cannot comment on rooms etc.
But the restaurant food is really special, and the location is hard to beat. The salad alone was worth the journey and the tortellini…. I could cry that I’m no longer in the area to stop for a plate.

So good we went twice in a week.
