“Simply wonderful!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 October 2013

The hotel is simply wonderful. It is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the best of Toscana. Our room had a beautiful view of the hills.
Every corner of the hotel is so well taken care of.
The restaurant is excellent! Homemade pasta and incredible attention! A MUST in Toscana!

We stayed here 2 nights during a bicycle tour. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The variety of quirky antique furnishings was fabulous, the room was spacious and comfortable and had a terrific view. The food was super, and the wait staff in the restaurant were very helpful explaining the menu which had no English translations. For bicycling, the town of Montopoli was a great spot to go out and find lovely and varied terrain.

We were just looking for a break in the drive from Pisa to Florence after arriving at Pisa airport in the late afternoon. This small but rambling hotel was an unexpected delight. Rooms are huge, corridors and staircases abound, festooned with antiques (well, we would call them antiques in Australia, but in Italy they are probably just interesting and whimsical junk) and the family run administration is warm and friendly. But the high point is the terrace restaurant. Complementary glasses of prosecco all round were followed by wonderful antipasto and main courses. All this while watching the sun set over the valley. At 85-95 euros per room (in high season) we felt it was good value for money.

As some others say, the beds are not great, but then again, the cost is so cheap you can't be expecting brand new Hilton super king beds either. The rooms are quite sizable, and the views from the rooms are amazing. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the wait staff are about as good as any money could buy. The food is very good, the wine list is exhaustive, and everything is very reasonably priced. We enjoyed eating, drinking, waking up to the beautiful view, and having a look around the various cellars and dining rooms in this quite quirky rural hotel.

Room Tip: I recommend the rooms facing the valley, not the rooms facing the street. The street is quite pretty...

We stopped here as it was a convenient stop over on a motorcycle trip.
We did not expect great things. We were wrong.
The hotel is a large old building over four floors. our room was a double on the second floor and the view from the balcony was stunning. The rooms, as you'd expect from a old building were not huge but they are well furnished and more than adequate. We were genuinely taken back by the charm of the room.
We went for a walk around the small village to find somewhere to eat, without a great deal of luck. On our return we were offered the chance to eat in the restaurant in the cellar. There was a good atmosphere, the staff fetched an English speaking waiter who talked us through the menu.
We enjoyed a good meal in nice surroundings at a reasonable price. Every thing we could have wanted under one roof, then there was the breakfast.....

I have stayed here more than once and I loved it each time. Especially appreciate the cordial service from Renza and Fulvia and Fulvia's husband and aunt. Breakfast overlooking the romantic hills of Tuscany. Excellent value.

This hotel is in a fabulous location, has an wonderful restaurant, competent and friendly staff and is one of my favourite hotels. It also offers excellent value for money. Whether for work or pleasure, I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view over the landscape, rather than the ones that face into the village
