“Very nice rooms in an old building”
Reviewed 8 July 2013

This little hotel is located close to the train station in Schwerte (Ruhr). The hotel is family operated and owned. You could feel like comming home at the reception and you can get assistance to find a good restaurant or anything else you are looking for. The rooms are very well fitted. Especially the towels in the bathroom were amazing.

Attention!!!
The reception is on the first upper floor and you have to take the stairs to get there...

Room Tip: This hotel is located at the corner of two main roads in Schwerte. So be aware the it might be a lit...

I used this hotel one night with my girlfriend, and wanted to share the nice experience.

First, this was a part of a larger trip in Europe. We arrived fairly late, but we called ahead to let the hotel know. The hotel hostess spoke English well, and we had no problems coming after 8PM to check in.

The parking is as secure as it can be in a town area, closed and locked gate at night, yet not impregnable to people on foot, as it had a small fence, which could be higher.

After checking in, the room turned out to he fairly large, as the ceiling height is 3 meter or higher. It gives a lot of height, and opening the window is not necessarily needed if you don't like it. Beds are good. Bathroom was nice, clean, and well stocked, including a hairdryer, handy for those who like a morning shower even in winter time.

Breakfast caters for everything from cyclists loading up for the day, to vegans having only youghurts. I would recommend buying the breakfast in the hotel as it seems to be the best offering early in the morning in Schwerte.

Overall the hotel is quiet, non-imposing, and all rooms lifted at least one floor up from the ground, and especially intersection it looks out over. I would recommend this for anyone looking for a stop while cruising the Autobahn, which passes within 3 km of Schwerte. Not so much a destination for younger people, then again the pricing already weeds most of those out.

Room Tip: Get a room facing the backyard to get quiet, front to get a better view.

This is a small hotel, which is situated opposite the railway station in Schwerte. It stands on the corner of a junction, which is busy during the day. However, as Schwerte is a very small town, the traffic dies down in the evening.

The building dates back to the end of the 19th century and the rooms are large and have high ceilings typical of the period. However, the interior is decorated in a rather non-descript modern style. The bathrooms are new and very clean.

The hotel is family run and the reception is very friendly. The breakfast room feels like the front parlour in a family house. It was busy, yet the staff had time to chat to several guests, who seemed to be regulars.
