Huge caves, as many as 700 meters in length under the ground! First, we sailed on a boat, then continued on foot, then again on the boat, very interesting. We were in November - tourists were not there at all, so it was very interesting to be just one in caves.

We toured the caves while on a cruise shore excursion and it was one of the best trips of the cruise! They do tell you if you that if you are claustrophobic to be careful. At several points of the cave boat trip you have to bend way down so you don't bang your head on the roof of the cave. You become friends real fast with the people sitting next to you! The audio guides were great and if you missed the "number" someone would point it out. No photographs are allowed to be taken during the boat trip but they are happy to sell you ones at the end. Truly amazing!

We visited this attraction in early January and vejoyed the caves very much. There were small boats that were filled with people 12-14 I'm guessing. about midway through the ride you leave the boat and walk a path through a section then back in the boat. There are audio guides and signs along the way that tell you to enter a number and your told what your looking at. Once out of the caves, We looked around and found everything else closed. It was still worth the trip.

Stopped here on the way back to our villa to break up the journey after a day out. It was late in the day and the car park seemed empty, but when we got up there there were lots of people. Lots of little tourist shops and cafes around the caves. Booked our tickets and got a Audio Guide in English when for a stroll around and then queued up for our allotted time for our trip into the cave. Fascinating.......you get a boat trip in on the waterway, then a short walk around to meet your boat again for the trip back. Audio guide was very interesting. They take photo of you in the boat which you have the option to purchase afterwards.
Great little excursion !

We were staying in Peniscola , and the Sant Josep caves were about an hours' drive away on the highway .Coves de St Josep is a well organized venue with restaurants , some small shops , as well as benches under shadey trees if you bring your own picnic lunch .
We went on a small rowing boat with about 14 people( and a man who was rowing the boat ) per boat , through the underground river within the caves . Even though we were there during peak season , we did not have to wait long to get tickets and to embark upon our trip in the cave . We hired a portable recording in English , and at each point we reached a number on our journey , we got an explanation in English about what we were seeing . Even my seven year old managed perfectly with the recording device .
Most of the caves are natural but some parts have been blasted to make it more accesable .
It was a unique experience and well worth the visit .
