“Fantastic Family Holiday!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 July 2014

Just returned from a weeks holiday at Cala Gogo and it did not disappoint! We booked through Thomson Alfresco who were brilliant. The site itself is in a beautiful setting, a sort of pine forest valley sloping down into a beautiful coved beach. The facilities are immaculate. The gardens well kept. All staff were smiley and friendly. A special mention must go to Jessica and Laurence the on site reps who couldn't do enough to make our stay memorable. There is an on site bakery which opens from 8am that sells fresh bread, croissants and beautiful pastries. They also have a machine that squeezes litres of fresh orange juice which was like liquid gold! The pool area is very clean and the lifeguards are strict, which I took comfort from having two small children using the pool. I could see them constantly checking the pool water and they had little tolerance for lads larking around. The site has predominantly Dutch visitors, all of which were polite and friendly. I only have a few niggles, none of which affected my overall holiday experience. The sand at the beach is very small shingle so if you have little ones the sand is not the most ideal material for building sand castles. Also take care in the sea as the sand shelves away quickly and one minute your paddling and then your in up to your shoulders! The service at the pool bar is desperately slow. They have one till which serves the restaurant, the bar, the takeaway and the ice cream parlour! Surely it would make sense to have a till in each, often the queue snaked out of the door with people waiting to pay. On our departure day there was no facility for our cases to be taken to reception, (we were situated at the very top of the site) a steep walk downhill, dragging cases, hand luggage, hand bags with two small children in 30 degree heat is less than ideal. Alfresco need to organise this better. This was no fault of the on site reps, there are no arrangements for luggage to be moved and the site is very large. Overall however Alfresco were brilliant, the site is gorgeous, we will definitely book with Alfresco again, I'm so pleased that I've found this part of Spain, looking forward to next years holiday already. One very happy customer :-)

We visited in June 2014. Our kids were 8 and 4 at the time. We stayed with siesta in a siesta 4 lodge. Had a fantastic holiday. Can't fault the campsite. So clean and well maintained. The siesta lodge was fine for our needs. Lovely and clean with a fab sea view. Our siesta reps Norman and Linda were great. So helpful and friendly. Site facilities were great. Lovely swimming pools. Great beach shingle though so you aren't able to make sand castles. Loved the beach bar. We went out of season and it was juat right. Although entertainment doesn't start until later in the year. It didn't bother us. The towns of playa d'aro and palamos are good to visit
No boat trips until end of june so we did miss that. We may go slightly later in the season next time. Would recommend to anyone for a lovely family holiday. We had a great time. I can recommend the white wine in the site supermarket. Something le mar ( I think) only €1.30 and very moreish.

Stayed here for second week of holiday after busy week further down coast. Site hilly as advertised but no problem for walking. Stayed with Thomson al fresco again and hardly saw reps. Had to use map to find mobile home and was an older version of one we stayed in previous week. Bit disappointed but ok. Beach was gorgeous and short walk to right also brought out to stunning beach, no boats to hire, had to go next door beach. On site beach got deep very quickly and kids didn't feel safe in water but loved climbing rocks and the beach along the path was perfect for kids.
Good mix of people , lots of teenagers, all very pleasant. Entertainment at night wasn't great, first night cancelled,
2nd and 3rd football only. Daughter loved kids disco but not on every night. Kids club staff lovely but games and resources need updated. Supermarket good but take away and bar not so good. Charged 7.5 euro for run and coke, only 3.5 on last weeks site.
Noise from the neighbouring site was far too loud, as we didn't like football chose to have early nights, Actually thought it was cala gogo as it was so near. Kept daughter awake.
Site lovely and clean but bit of stench from drains at times.
We usually stay on sites in France and spain so have a good deal of experience of sites and I was a bit disappointed with this. Bar staff not the most pleasant either. If I was visiting this area again I would maybe try the camping Internationale site next door- seemed to be more going on.

We loved the coastline in this part of Spain, and would definitely go back to this site. We were in a motorhome in May and were impressed at how much was organised so early in the season.

The little train up and down from the beach was free, and ran throughout the day, even though it was quiet. The supermarket deserves a mention as they have such a wide range of food and so reasonable, so not worth shopping anywhere else! The staff speak many languages and were all very friendly, with no exceptions.

The wifi was 17€ for a week, but unfortunately only one device at a time... the only downside to a great holiday!

Stayed here for 2 nights Sep 2013. The hills were not a problem for us, (they really are not that steep, and i am very unfit!!) so don't let that put you off. Staff very helpful, supermarket is excellent and reasonably priced with a great variety. Pools are large and heated, not to mention spotless. The whole campsite is well run and very clean. I admire they're decision not to allow food or drinks in the pools, it's exactly the way it should be. One big problem we had was ants. Most of the pitches have no grass, only a sand and pebble mixture, and we were infested by ants for the 2 days, as well as swarms of flies.

Room Tip: If using a tent, try to get a grassy pitch

Attended cala gogo with family in siesta 6 home. Site is well run with good clean facilities good pool and well stocked shop with competitive prices. Own beach which again good.
Site not for limited mobility as on a hill and will strengthen your legs over course of holiday re walking up and down it.
Accommodation with siesta was excellent.
Would recommend the site but it is a continental site with the majority from holland, France and Spain. A good family site with good towns close by too.

5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 August 2013

Just got back yesterday. The campsite is the cleanest that we have ever been to, it is kept immaculate and it is evident that all staff take a pride in their surroundings. Security is fantastic with guards placed throughout the site especially in the evenings. The pools are kept clean and Lifeguards are on the ball with the rules and safety. The eating facilities were basic but served good food at a good price. The shop offers a good range of food and was very competitive price wise, if you are driving over there really is no need to take items from the UK with you and in most cases the shop was cheaper, my only negative was that having a vegetarian in the family I found that all shops in Spain not just this one, offered a very limited and in most cases non existent choice of vege foods, no Quorn at all. The beach is beautiful, one of the best, clear, clean water and fine shingle, the beach bar is great. The beach gets packed so its best to get there early to secure a spot. There is a Lifeguard at the beach. The sea gets deep very quickly so little ones would need to be with an adult even for a paddle. My daughter became poorly whilst at the beach and the camp owner was fanstastic in caring and arranging transport back to our accommodation. As the brochure says this site is on a very steep hill and it really is, you need to be fit to be able to handle the walking but a transport service is provided to and from the beach free of charge, we were at the top of the site and it was a 15 minute walk to the beach. All staff on this camp were friendly, helpful and had the holidaymakers interest at heart. We booked with Siesta and our accommodation was excellent value, clean, modern and well maintained. Our rep Lynette was the best that we have ever had, caring, bubbly and always on hand. She even ferried those without transport to the bigger supermarkets. Nothing was to much trouble. To sum up, Cala Gogo and Siesta offers good value for money, for a beach holiday in the sun, in a clean safe environment. If I were to offer any comments for improvements I would say that making the pitches on the outer area of the pool into a grassed sunbathing and picnicking area would be a good idea as the pool offers no shade and it can be hard at times to find sunbathing space and an area just for teenagers would be good, maybe a cyber café offering music and teenager type facilities of their own as opposed to the bar area. For Siesta I would say sun loungers at the accomodation would be good.
