We started our 'Cave' crawling in Sant Sadurni D'Anoia and Pere Ventura was our second stop. We arrived at a tasting room w/ probably 20 persons happily quaffing champagne around bar-height tables laden with munchies. It was 'tres elegant' and Angel Turegano, the 'client manager' behind the counter invited us to taste, then introduced us to our sweet and informative 'server'. we inadvertintly saw a sign 6E/6 for 36 Euro [it turned out to be for crystal PAPER WEIGHTS :-)] and, as lovely as the experience had been after the first wonderful champagne, were afraid that might be the cost of the TASTING. were we ever shocked that there was NO cost for the tasting which, by the time we were finished, had to have been called a 'light lunch' (after 9 fabulous and generous 'tastes', they certainly don't want to be irresponsible and cause you to be too inebriated). they took their time serving each one, allowing you to savor. as we left, we met a Brit who says that he and his Spanish wife feel this is the nicest Cave in the area. For us, Pere Ventura represented a fabulous 'first day' in Spain and a wonderful introduction to this pretty area. I could see coming back to the Penendez region for a month after retirement and buying reasonably priced wine/champagne for day after day drinking. Looking back, this was probably the best couple of hours spent of the entire week. Thank you Pere Ventura. We'll look for your champagne in future and delight in giving the gift pack to my husband's son/bride-to-be at Christmas and drinking the bottle we brought back at New Year!
