“The perfect experience!”
Reviewed 11 July 2014

I was travelling with a group of colleagues from work. A few of us had heard about the cider they make here in San Sebastian and that you could go to a cider house for dinner. It turned out that this was one of the local attractions and "everyone" included the cab driver knew about the place.
It is a bit outside town (10-15 mins in taxi??) but well worth the drive.
The place is beautiful on the outside and with the perfect “rural farmhouse” look on the inside. Solid wooden tables with benches instead of chairs. Sawdust on the floor to keep us from slipping on cider.
We had 2 types of bacalhau and a wonderful piece of ribeye large as a barn door. You get the food served on a large plate and share it with your friends. You will quickly find out that everyone (in the room) walks back and forth between the table and the tapping room with cider.
The tapping room with the huge (+20.000 liters / barrel) barrels (many many of them) is quite an experience. The staff is present and tells you about the different types of cider and helps you fill your glass. Quite exciting filling your glass directly out of a 20.000 liter barrel – the drains in the middle of the floor are there for a reason…
We had a very pleasant night at Petritegi and this was the perfect experience in San Sebastian. Very much recommended for couples, business (not formal) and friends. Would not hesitate coming back if I get the chance!

“Nice cider menu”
Reviewed 21 June 2014

I just love the cider menus. And from all places, this has the most amazing cider hall, and the steak is quite good as well as the resto of the menu. Recommended

“INCREDIBLE EXPERIENCE!!”
Reviewed 26 May 2014 via mobile

This is a must see when visiting San Sebastián! The cider was very interesting - not too sweet which made it really nice. The atmosphere is SOOOO FUN! Drinking the cider directly from the barrel and trying to master ensuring the stream of cider lands in your glass gets a bit easier the more you drink. :) Much to our surprise the food was excellent! The chorizo in cider, cod tortilla and steak were all excellent. We had a great time and highly recommend!

“Highly recommended.”
Reviewed 1 March 2014

On a day trip from Bayonne, we arrived at Petritegi Sideria in Astgarraga on a February Saturday for lunch with no reservation; fortunately out of the 200+ seats this place had, 6 were vacant so we got 2 of them! For 28.50E pp we had the' menu typical' - piece of chorizo starter, cod omelet, fried cod with peppers and onions, T-bone steak (880g for 2 people), dessert (cheese, quince jelly, walnuts, "teja" and "cigarrillo" biscuits), all the TXIRI (CIDER) you can drink, and bread. That's enough food and drink to last for the rest of the day. The atmosphere is busy, friendly, loud and casual. The service is efficient. The food is brought to the table and shared between people off a common plate (just within your family or group). I think we were only one of two couples in the entire place, everyone else was big, extended families and groups of people both young and old. You bring your glass into the cider tasting room and collect it from the huge barrels with the assistance of a man working the tap. There are many cider barrels to taste from. It gets a bit busy and festive as time goes on, and it's not unusual to get your sleeve or pant leg a bit wet if you're not seasoned at collecting the drink from the long stream - but all in good fun. But back to the food - it was all excellent!! Call up your family and friends, hire a bus, make a reservation and come here for a fun afternoon or evening. Highly recommended.

“Take a break from elf food in starred restaurants, and eat here!”
Reviewed 24 November 2013

The Michelin food of the area has its charms, but come to this place for a good meal, cider, and a tour of the cider operation when the complicated foams, emulsions, etc get tiring.

The food is a small selection of traditional menus. We had four courses of bacalao omelette, broiled hake, and broiled steak, cheese & nuts. With as much cider as you like. Cod omelette will always be questionable in my mind, but it was a pleasure to get some hearty simple food.

According to our local hosts, it can get very crowded at peak times. Four languages to choose from.
