Reaching the top of a steep mountain road, we found ourselves in an immaculate hideaway with a perfect swimming pool, spacious kitchen, comfortable beds and sofa, plus two bathrooms with great showers. Shortly after our arrival, kindhearted caretaker Gabriel arrived to help us adjust the temperature of the (excellent) fridge and answer any questions we might have. He also drew us maps of restaurants and sights nearby and shared his considerable knowledge of the climate, flora and fauna of the area. With a background in agricultural engineering, Gabriel obviously knew which drought-tolerant plants would thrive around the house; he planted them himself, and they look great!
We had fans to keep us cool for sleeping. Gabriel also brought us a new toaster and new table parasol during our stay, without our asking for either... The ownership-management team of Rafael De Vicente, Cristian Zanchi, and Alberto were also attentive and welcoming.
Ten days wasn't long enough. Next time we'd like to book two weeks. Highly recommended.
We spent 10 wonderful days in this beautiful handbuilt mountaintop home overlooking the Mediterranean..Gabriel, our caretaker, was nearby and helped us with just about everything we needed..the house is very private seated among a cluster of other house..a beautiful garden, modern conveniences and best of all a wonderfully clean and large swimming pool..private and beautifully kept..we highly reccommend this retreat if you are wishing to escape every day cares...We can't wait to visit again ,to see Gabriel and rest on our mountainside...Thank you! John and Charles
This is our second year at Finca Herrera. This year we are staying at Casa Pisces which is comfortable and has everything we need. If you want a rural spot, with good views, a sense of privacy with your own pool, then this is perfect. Also dogs are welcome and our dogs love it here. The road has been improved since last year and is now paved all the way up to the Finca. You do need a car to get to the coast and to the shops and restaurants. We are about 401 metres above sea level and the views are spectacular. From the veranda we can see down the coast to well past Málaga and on a really clear day the mountains of North Africa. There are a number of different types of villa to choose from depending on your required level of luxury and budget. All the houses have their own pools and similar levels of privacy.
The people who work at De Vicente are really friendly and very helpful. Gabriel is on site and is lovely.
Perfect if you are requiring peace and quiet. The villa is exactly as advertised plus there is a second bathroom downstairs. The pool is deep and unsuitable for small children. The road (track) to the villa is very steep and requires some skill to negotiate, a 4x4 vehicle is recommended. The property is 320m above sea level. Do use the optional guide when you arrive as the directions can be misleading, especially if you arrive after dark. Very helpful maintenance man (?) who is swift to respond to any issues. Excellent value for money.
