“Not for light sleepers.”

Having booked this apartment in May we arrived in Alicante in December and were taken to a different property as ours had been double booked. We complained to the owner who moved us two days later. The apartment was just as is shown in the photos and we were grateful for the excellent wifi, lovely bed linen and cleanliness. The bedroom is a bit cramped with a small double bed that squeaks every time you move and has lumpy pillows. Toiletries were advertised but were insufficient; luckily we had our own. The location is good, right in the centre of the old town and with very easy access to the many restaurants nearby. At the time of booking we were unaware of the horrendous night noise in this area which was worse during part of our week when there were two Spanish holidays. The high noise level went on every night till 4am. Then the street cleaners start, then the bin men! Maybe this apartment is more suitable to young people who are out anyway until that time. Our little street where the apartment is was also used as a urinal from all the surrounding bars. The smell was awful even after the street cleaners had been, especially by our front door, and I often had to throw bleach there in the mornings. There is a good coffee machine in the apartment, but you need to buy your own capsules if you want more than one cup and they are not cheap. We would have preferred a kettle. Although there are many sights worth visiting in Alicante we found many parts of the city grubby with graffiti and smoking spoilt the enjoyment of outdoor eating.
