This place is excellent to take panoramic photos, the price of entrance are 4 Euros. It is a sacred place for the deceaseds of the city. When you exit the castle, in the town it has one store of articles of very interesting collection. This is one of the cities with more museums per capita of the world.

This valley is a hidden gem. Just a short drive from Benidorm and the busy coast you can explore delightful historic villages

set amidst great scenery. Guadalest itself is very popular, with many craft shops, bars and restaurants as well as museums

and art galleries. The views from the village (which is located on amazing rocky pinnacles) are well worth seeing by

themselves, across to the Serella peaks and and the turqouise waters of the Guadalest Lake.

There is far more to see that just Guadalest though. Try the easy 11km walk around the lake, in Spring there is cherry

blossom, whilst in autumn the trees are laden with almonds, oranges, etc. On the hillsides you will find evidence of

abandoned villages, old mills and the unique "snow wells" or Neverras where snow was stored in winter and bought down to the

villages during the summer months.

The other villages such as Abdet, Confrides, Benifato, etc are ideal bases for a weeks holiday.

The villages come to life in the summer with many fiestas (festivals) and you can spend some time at the local swimming pools

set in stunning locations, the pools are generally very quiet and also great value, a good way to while away the hot

There are lots of walking guides available (many free if you search on the internet), and the quiet roads are great for road

Mountain walking is a must in this area. The Aitana (Velencias highest summit) and Serella ridges have many walking options,

look for the Serella pinnacles and the huge rock crevasses on Aitana amongst others. The Bernia summit and ridge just beyond

Callosa also is a "must do".

Rock climbing is very popular in the valley, the lain locations being Echo Valley, Guadalest and the recently developed El

Flare crags at Abdet.

Finally of course the wildlife and plant-life is very varied. In spring the walks in the upper valley are a botanists

delight. There are many foxes, wild boar, and interesting bird life such as bee eaters, eagles and birds of prey.

A spectacular drive lead up to very pretty and interesting village that has made the most of its beautiful location.

However, while it is wonderful for adults, children and teens will bore easily as it is very 'cultural' and about the place and views. It's not suitable for the very young as there are lots of steps and, as is to be expected of a traditional mountain village, full of steps making it both dangerous and inaccessible to buggies or little explorers. The elderly should also be aware of the steps and walking involved.

With all this said, I can't recommend this highly enough. Go there!
