“Great location”
Reviewed 13 July 2014 via mobile

We stayed last Monday for 1 night. The location is excellent between the beach and marina/casino. The old part of town is across the road. Plenty of parking at the hotel which costs about €19 a day.
We had a room on the level which included access to the club lounge with an open bar and snacks. Canapes which were very nice were served about 8pm, but be warned if you are not there when they are put out then you wont have any as they were not refreshed. The only other snacks we saw were crisps and nuts.
Our room was great with a lovely view over the Marina, the corridors are long so expect a long walk to some rooms. Room was well equipped with a power shower, jacuzzi bath (which did not work), safe (which also didn't work, after calling the engineer out twice to see it we gave up and left it open). Mini bar with complimentory soft drinks, beer and snacks. There were good quality toiletries and when we asked for an iron and ironing board it came quickly. The bed was comfy;the room was clean and there was a turn down service. As part of the package we also had a €10 allowance to spend within the hotel.
The staff and service we thought was very good and not being one who likes elevators, I was pleased to see 1 glass elevator. We used the main dining room for breakfast and as we had an early flight we wished we hadn't as it was a long trek from our room and in a bizarre location. The food that we saw looked good and fresh.
We would return to the hotel and would recommend the level, but not for more than a short break. The reason being is that we were disappointed that the level is supposed to be adults only but it was not there were Children running about everywhere. The other thing we were most disappointed with was the pool, it is positioned in between 2 buildings so very little of it sees any sun. The other issue was that there was absolutely nowhere to sit. We didn't expect to pay a premium for a room and then not be able to sit outside by the pool. It was clear the morning we left that you need to be out by the pool by 7.30 to get a bed as people reserve them all and nothing is done about it. Perfect hotel if you like the beach though.

Stayed for 4 nights on HB basis with my daughter.

One side of the hotel overlooks the beach and the other side the marina. We had a nice room overlooking the sea. we couldn't see the beach because the side wall of the balcony obscured the full view. I would suggest asking for a full view on booking.

The food was good with plenty of choice, although I would recommend BB simply because there are some lovely restaurants around the harbour with competitive prices and menus.

The spa was very expensive and overpriced which is a shame as I was looking forward to a little pampering, but because of the price I would not use it.

The outdoor pool has lovely views overlooking the beach but you have to be up really early if you want a sunbed as all the best spots are taken up with towels on them before you get there.

Location is excellent and within easy walking distance to the local buses. The tour bus is a good way to see all whats around you (hop on off for 10 euros) a trip up to the castle is included.
The marina is really nice and is a must for a meal and drinks.

Overall a good hotel in a great location.

Taxi from airport between 16-18 euros.

Room Tip: Ask for unobstructed views

Had a great stay at the Melia and like the previous reviewer we were hesitant about booking such a large hotel but should not have been concerned. We arrived, and on reading previous reviews thought we would try the C6 bus from the airport, this was a great service costing approx 7 euros for two and drops you off really close to the hotel. We started off with a marina view room but changed to a sea view where the views were incredible. Breakfast was fantastic with so many lovely choices and excellent service, tables were cleared quickly by the staff who were always happy to help, in fact all the staff were extremely friendly and helpful, must give a special mention to Alina Vieru on the level reception, nothing was too much trouble, thank you Alina for your great service. The only thing we thought should be changed was the way people reserve sunbeds with towels, it does state on the information they give you when checking in that this is prohibited, this really does need to be enforced. We are already planning another visit to the Melia as we enjoyed the hotel and the area so much. Big hello to Kim & Ian who we met whilst having a drink or two in the Level bar!!

Room Tip: Rooms facing the beach have sun in the morning, facing the marina have sun in the afternoon.

I was a little hesitant booking into such a big hotel but I must say it exceeded my expectations. The hotel is located right in the centre of alicante overlooking postiguet beach. If you can get on the level your room will overlook the beach/sea view or the marina...try and get the sea view rooms. The room was of a good size and the cleanliness of the hotel was excellent. Very polite staff from the maids right through to the receptionists. I must mention Atina from reception on the level who was outstanding. We asked about a tram trip to altea and she looked into it for us and contacted us after she had finished her shift to give us the relevant details. Several days later she even remembered us and asked us how our day trip went. Great service! Lovely holiday and really good hotel.

8 June 2014 just back from a glorious 7 days in Alicante. The 4* Melia hotel is ideally located between the Beach and the marina with stunning views and all the facilities you would expect from a 4 star hotel. Hello to Una and Peter, friends we made at the hotel.
Across from the hotel moored at the large marina is a Spanish galleon which is well worth exploring and your admission fee of 5 euros includes a drink at the top deck bar. There are gift shops to explore and the Casino if you fancy a flutter. The marina also has a large number of bars and restaurants. You can also get a boat trip here to the Island of...
At the other side of the hotel is the main beach with the crystal clear waters of the med. The beach is very popular. The rear of the beach has a promenade with cafe's and free clean public toilets. Across the road to the rear of the third café, Rompanellos, is the entrance to the castle lift. This takes you up to the castle which is a must visit.
There is also an open top "TouriBus", which for 10 euros buys you a day ticket with 5 hop off and hop on locations around the city. The second stop (10 mins) takes you up to the castle. The bus stops at the melia (roundabout) every hour on the hour and is a good way to check out Alicante.
A short walk from the hotel and marina takes you into the old town. There are lots of restaurants, tapas bars and the usual McD's, Subway and B King if you are not an adventurous eater. Also on the promenade are local craft and gift stalls. A number 5 bus takes you to the Open market on Thursdays and Saturdays for 2.5 euros. I forgot to mention the weather... July was in the top 80's and early 90's with bright sunshine every day. What more could you ask. A week goes bye so quickly!

Room Tip: You have 2 choices.. a marina view or a beach view. Both are excellent.
