I was a bit concerned by reading some of the negative reviews but it was too late in any case, as the hotel had been booked. However, the Hotel and Staff were excellent. All were very friendly including all the staff on the front desk, contrary to some reviews. The facilities were spot on. The pool is a little small with guests reserving the limited beds but the beach is a 2 min walk away!! no hardship really.

All in all, yes absolutely we will return again as this Hotel gives one the best of all worlds, - beach, town and relaxing AND only a short distance away from England.

Have recently came back from this hotel .
I live in altea with my partner we don't earn lots of money
But decided to splash out for a weekend to melia hotel for special occasion!
Had a choice of several hotels better priced. But thought it's a special event and it is a hotel and spa!
On arriving initially was let down terrace on room was tiny could barely take 2 people.
I then tried to sunbathe at pool no sun loungers! However lots of empty ones with towels on.
Tried the sun lounge for sunbathing, again no loungers but lots empty with towels.
Next morning thought let's relax in spa!! Wrong I had to pay a further 20 euros pp per day to use this.despite booking a spa hotel at premium prices.
There was no tea or coffee in rooms.( BUDGET HOTELS OFFER THIS FACILITY)
Overpriced hotel extremely poor facilities
Will not return!!

Dear guest,

Thank you for reporting us your experience after your last stay at Meliá.

We are sorry if your experience with us was not as pleasant as we wish and if our service did not reached all of your expectations.

Regarding to your comments, I would like to point out that it is forbidden to reserve sunbeds, in fact, we have taken notice of that in order to improve this service.

We hope you come back and give us another opportunity to reach your expectations.

Kind regards,

Recommended. Alicante has it all if you like combining a city break with a beach holiday and this hotel is perfectly located to make the most of it. All the rooms should have a pretty good view of either the beach or the marina. We travelled with 3 young kids and stayed in a suite - the room was smart and unpretentious. So much better than Benidorm! Hope to go back soon

Room Tip: Pay a little extra and go for the top floor

Totally loved The Melia. We stayed in a suite on 'the level' without having access to the facilities there. The suite was one of the best we've stayed in. Very clean. Two bathrooms, full size fridge (mini bar) with a good sized lounge with terrace leading off of it. Bed was very comfy, 2 large wardrobes with plenty of hangers. We had a lovely sea view.
The pool area is good, but as has been said already not enough loungers, but the beach is a few steps down a stairway, so it didn't spoil our holiday.
The breakfast was awesome, the selection included freshly made omelettes, pancakes, cakes, Danish, yoghurt, sliced cooked meat, beautiful selection of fruit, even prosecco for those of you who need alcohol in the morning! The staff were very attentive, always smiling and very helpful, an asset to the hotel.
Opposite the hotel is a market which opens later in the day, and stays open after 11:00pm, there are also clubs, a casino and bars right on your doorstep. The beach is very long, clean and lots of sun beds available to hire with a couple of bars along it as well. The sea itself is wonderful, not too lively, nice and warm, not stoney. The beach is busy but that's a testament to how great it is.
Alicante is absolutely buzzing at night time, on a Saturday evening the bars are full, the restaurants are plentiful and the atmosphere is a delight, we shall definitely return to The Melia and Alicante.

We have just returned from a holiday staying at the Melia Alicante.

We had a room on a B&B basis on the 5th floor known as The Level. Here you can get drinks & snacks for the majority of the day free of charge.

Our room faced the harbour which can get a bit noisy at night but apart from that it was exactly what we wanted - clean, comfortable & cool!

The hotel location couldn't be better - a short walk to the beach, the harbour & the town.

Breakfast can get a little busy later on but the staff deal with queues very promptly & there was never a shortage of food.

All in all a great choice!
