I come at this hotel for many years. It is an amazing hotel with great service and friendly, professional staff: housekeepers, bar and restaurants staff, receptionists and management staff.
Great location and much better, improved rooms every year.

Beautiful spacious suites. Immaculately clean. The level lounge was a great place to relax with beautiful views. The nibbles and drinks were fab and my family thoroughly enjoyed their time there. Brilliant location! Beach, shops, bars and restaurants. Perfect!

Stayed here for 5nights, room needs attention an updating especially the bathroom. Air conditioning an shower were not working but was fixed. Beach is right next to hotel but you have to pay 6euros for sunbed per day. Staff are very friendly especially Christina at guest services and Roca at reception who were very helpful during our stay. Breakfast has good variety. Shops are close by including mcdonalds an burger king. No excursions provided by hotel have to book yourself but nothibg to do in alicante. Benidorm waterp 0ark is 45mins away on coach for 7euros return. Shopping mall is 5euros in taxi. Overall would not stay here again as room for 2adults an child is small .

Staff a credit very friendly, professional and couldn't be more welcoming, communal areas lovely, breakfast perfect and so much to choose once again your staff are a credit to you when one accidently bumped into me I had two staff members come over to ask if I was OK, the only down side the room. We've stayed here a few times and always seem to get an un modernised room. This time we booked a sea view room very much looking forward to it. However yet again an un modernised room was allocated to us, so much for being a Melia reward member not sure of the point really. The bathroom was tired with bits falling off the taps, the safe was a pain to use as the buttons didn't always work and we had to get help from room service to get it opened. Strange lighting as you couldn't have the stand up light on without the other room lights on, defeats the purpose of mood lighting, half the tv channels didn't work, no sun any time of the day on the balcony. Our floor seemed to be the only one without nice renovated glass and slate balconies, 4th floor dirty wood and concrete and chipped tile floors. Sorely disappointed would have been 5 stars for the rest of the experience but the room, poor standard for what we were thinking we were getting from the website. Maybe a better experience could be had in a renovated room that didn't look like it was knackered, got us questioning whether would we continue to come here, 5 times out of 5 the rooms been the disappointment everything else fantastic.

Room tip: Always ALWAYS ask for a renovated room

Although The Melia Alicante is now a wee bit tired as far as the standard rooms are concerned I would still recommend it as the place to stay. The rooms are clean and comfortable but are dark and ready for a refurb. The common parts are really lovely and up to date and the staff are excellent.

Room tip: Some of rooms overlooking the pool side of the hotel are not the best with a kind of "tunnel" view. The best rooms are overlooking the beach.

The hotel has a prime location, close to beach on one side and the Marina on the other all within a very short stroll. We booked a room with a balcony and a Seaview, the room was certainly not spacious, the balcony was tiny and the Seaview was restricted giving a blinkered view due to the design of the building. The room was clean and well maintained.

Breakfast was probably one of the worse hotel experiences that I have had in all my years travelling, we joined a large queue to wait while a table became available, I have never seen so many people in a dining area. When we finally got a table we went in search of the self service areas, again we had to queue, eggs, bacon etc etc was served on a side plate , I find this almost insulting as it almost indicates a crude attempt to restrict portions. My impression of this hotel, I feel it’s more suited to business travellers I certainly would not be rushing back.
