“Good location”
Reviewed 22 June 2014

Nice comfortable rooms with good beds, nice cotton sheets. Clean. Good bathrooms. We had a room with balcony overlooking the marina. Breakfast was good. Best of all was the central location of this hotel as it was within easy walking distance of the center of town and the port. The staff were efficient although a smile from a few of them would have been appreciated! Although the hotel advertises a spa you have to book a special premium room for this service so it is not included. On the whole a reasonable hotel.

Stayed here for one week, early June, travelling as a couple, we would like to review this hotel to clear up some of the negative reports we have read.
Arriving at hotel, entrance is at ground level is an atrium which is lovely with cacti etc, there are escalators, stairs or a lift to the first floor reception,
There were no problems at reception we were greeted friendly and professional, we were told about the facilities, breakfast wi fi etc, we paid for our room at this point, don’t know why this was a problem for some people.
The reception area is clean and has a bar with large windows looking out to sea.
Our room was on 4th floor and was great it was large. We had twin beds which was a concern before we went as we thought it may be 2 single beds of the type you get in the resorts, however they were large and joined together and comfortable, our room looked out to sea so was nice, balcony was a bit small but ok for 2 people, bathroom was ok, only had a shower but it was big, good thing about the room the entrance hall had a separate door to the bedroom area which cut off noise from corridor, although there was no noise.
The only thing the room lacked was a clock for during night.
TV in room was ok it had HD channels and there were 6 English, channels ( not just one), including itv,itv2 and itv4. Free room wi fi was no problem both of us could use our tablets and phones and was not slow.
Could have done with a cuppa in the morning, however there is a room upgrade that gives you tea making facilities, be aware that the room we were in was standard, they offer an upgrade for 30 euros a night that gives a double bed, tea facilities and the room is larger with bigger balcony or for 40 euros a night you can get a suite.
People have been complaining that they got the wrong room, this is Hotels.Com’s fault not the hotel, they are quite clear and if you can get an upgrade cheaper then it will only be because there are spare rooms, we had the same problem but the room was fine so we kept it. Cleaned everyday no problems.
Breakfast was great, 10 euros seems expensive but there is a great selection including smoked salmon and fizz, breakfast at the café next door would have been 6.50 euros for bacon eggs and toast, then 1.50 for coffee, we had breakfast 3 times.
We did not use the indoor pool which was included in our package but the sun loungers and the Astroturf we could see from our room looked a bit dated.
I would agree that some areas especially the balconies could do with a bit of a tidy but all in all this is a great hotel and one I would highly recommend, if I think about some of the 3 star hotels I have been in this is a good 4 star.

Room Tip: standard room great for couples or perhaps a baby, any more would need a premium or suite both side...

Pricey for Alicante standards: About £70 a night for a 4 star hotel when others are available for about £40+ a night. Having said that, we chose a room which faced both the castle and the sea...a beautiful view.

It is in a very central location and 50m from the marina where there are loads of restaurants. It is also a 5min walk to the beach and a 10min walk to the town centre.

I would definitely return during the off-peak season.

Room Tip: Choose one with a sea view and you won't regret it!

Just returned from 4 nights at the Spa Porta Maris Hotel, Alicante - this hotel had the wow-factor from the moment you ascend the escalator that takes you up to Reception - what an amazing view!
We had a Premium room with an amazing view over the beach, lulled to sleep every night by the sound of the waves breaking on the shore...bliss! The bed was huge, and so comfortable, slept like a baby every night! Our room included free use of the indoor pool and spa, none of which we actually had time to use but nice to know it was there if we needed it Being so close to the beach, it was a no-brainer really!
The air conditioning was very effective and easy to control, and quiet, which is a bonus!
The hotel is so close to everything, but still so quiet, we had no noise from other rooms either.
The buffet breakfast is fantastic - as much as you can eat, with so much choice, something for everyone, and brilliant service too, all overlooking the sea...
We will definitely return to this hotel, as soon as we can, can't wait to go back!!

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the beach rather than the marina, it's much quieter and an altogether...

Apreciados lectores,

I think Alicante is a very underrated city. While it has plenty of tourists it is not dominated by them. The hotel is on the marina and well placed as a base to explore Alicante and the province.
Lovely view of the sea,a small table with chairs on the balcony. The Swifts were a great entertainment as they flew and screeched around the hotel. The room was modern and really nice. Breakfast was excellent, plenty of choice of fresh food, decent coffee.
Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Get a sea view.

This is the perfect place to relax and let your worries fade away. Its location on the Alicante marina separates it from the traffic of Alicante but it is only minutes from the promenade and the town centre, Our room, the breakfast room and the lobby had amazing views of the sea. Our room was clean and spacious with a balcony that looked over the hotel pool and sea. It was quiet to sleep in and well air conditioned. The breakfast offered a tempting range of hot and cold food and the coffee was good. The rooms were quiet to sleep in and well air conditioned a great place to return to after strolling through a sunny Alicante. The staff were friendly, welcoming and informative.
