Amazing restaurant, probably not situated in the best place as it was a little hard to fjnd and near a not so nice place. Large portions and great for the price! Service was fab! Made the trip to Alicante worth while.

I found this place yesterday but didn't fancy a big meal. After viewing Trip Advisor I decided to give it a go. I was not disappointed. The service was excellent, the choice large, big portions and delicious food. I will be back.

We discovered this restaurant whilst walking the beautiful streets of Alicante tucked away behind the main street, in the centre.

The menu el dia was advertised outside of the restaurant at 8.95 with a choice of two starters(entrada, samosa o onion bhaji), Plato princal: Main dish: chicken curry or chicken tikka masala, rice (arroz) or naan (pan) and a drink y una bebida (water, coke or wine).

On entering the restaurant we were seated and asked if we would like to order drinks, so we ordered 2 x diet coke as we wanted the Menu el Dia. The waiter came back with the drinks (no ice). We asked for the chicken tikka masala (as per the advertised sign outside of the restaurant) The waiter gave us a menu that stated this was infact 2 euros more. We questioned as to why this was listed in the 8.95 menu and he said that the menu outside was wrong. The manager came over to our table and we questioned why it was advertised outside the restaurant if it was not available. He stated that they were unable to list all the dishes on the sign so just had those two on, and anyway, customers would find out from the main menu that this would cost them 10.95 not the 8.95 as advertised.

Despite feeling a little bit annoyed at having sat down and ordering drinks for the menu of the day we decided to stay and order 2 other main dishes - 1 x chicken korma and 1 x chicken bhuna. We ordered the meat somasa and onion bhaji as starters which were really fresh, tasty and met our expectations. The two main dishes were tasty, not too spicy and plentiful. We both really enjoyed the curries. Our only criticism of the main meals is that they were accompanied by a very small portion of rice (we ordered one naan and one rice to share).

Feeling very satisfied with the main meals we were ready to order a desert but instead one was brought out to us, it seemed we had no choice. This was what can only be described as a small sweet sugary ball, too sickly for me to eat (although my partner was able to eat it).

We have given this restaurant a 4 for the following reasons

Positives

Great customer service
Friendly staff - who could speak English and Spanish
Prompt service
Good starters / Nice Curries

Negatives

Mispresented the price outside the restaurant (chicken tikka listed on the menu el dia at 8.95) when infact it was 10.95 (we have pictures of this)
The rice was a VERY SMALL PORTION and not really sufficient to compliment the curry.
Desert - we were unable to choose a desert despite the fact this was included in the menu el dia. In effect, the choice we had was for the starter and main only.

Despite the negative aspects we enjoyed the meal and was pleasantly surprised with the service / quality of food we received. At 8.95 it represents excellent value for money and we would go here again.

We hope that this review has been helpful.

As usual we took the advice of TripAdvisor while visiting a new city and were not disappointed.
I had chicken chat to start, slightly different than usual but never the less very tasty. My wife had Chana Puri which she enjoyed. I has a lamb patia and my wife chicken tikka jalfrezi as the mains mine was fine but the chicken was a bit overcooked.
The Gulab Jamun was disappointing it was not as good as I have in other places, including India.
The staff were very attentive.

Visited Alicante for a week at the end of May and visited this restaurant twice during this time. The first visit was following a trawl through the reviews on trip advisor to find one close to where we were staying and was very pleasantly surprised. My father and son both enjoyed their meals very much as did I. Mine was a chicken Koraih which i asked to have more spicy which they did to perfection. Although slightly more expensive than some of the spanish restaurants it was well worth the extra expense. On the second occaission my brother joined us. this time we all had starters mains and desserts. The Mango Kulfi was superb. Again all very nice though the grilled/tandoori starters were not as good as at home but the curries and vegetable dishes made up for it. Would certainly recommend it for food and the actual service was brilliant, attentative without hassle.
