The old monastry as been well restored and rooms are large, well equipped and perfectly soudproofed (there are some very popular cerveterias just in front).
Breakfast buffet is rich and tasty, served on a balcony over the hall.
The staff is nice and very attentive and the cleaning is excellent.
The Hotel is also well located, just 2 steps to the taxy area and 5 min to the beach.
So, rates they offer are excellent, considering the quality of services and rooms.
Just two comments: pipes are not so well soundproofed and the water roar isn't so nice and a The/coffe set in the room is definitely a shortcoming

Stayed with my wife and 4 year old in the apartments and had a fantastic stay. The hotel is a beautiful building and the apartments are 50 metres away down a slightly ramshackle piece of road. The front doors don't even have any signage so you would not even know they are the apartments but the apartments themselves are simple but stylish.

We had great sleeps in a very comfy bed with the noise of the church bells in the morning only reminding you of the fact that you are in a great traditional Spanish city.

The location of the hotel is fantastic, the staff are superb and very warm (unlike those of the Melia) and there is no issue of the apartments guests being 2nd class guests.

We loved the roof top spa, sun terrace and pool (though the treatments are not cheap) and my daughter was in her element in the pool. Drinks prices there were very reasonable.

They have a Michelin star restaurant but we didn't use it and the bar/restaurant is very busy at the weekend but looks great. As we had our daughter with us we choice to use the tapas bars nearby instead of which there are hundreds and which are very child friendly.

The only issue that we had was that the sofa bed in our apartment didn't work properly.

We love Alicante as it is traditional but still has a beach and beautiful marina. Try speaking Spanish and the locals will really warm to you, it is a very family oriented environment and on Sunday the locals spend the day promenading and enjoying the numerous restaurants and bars.

Room Tip: Consider the apartments as well as the hotel itself, especially if you want a quieter night.

My husband and I stayed here for four nights. Very good first impressions as the building is great, reception staff very pleasant and helpful. Provided with a welcome cold drink on arrival and early entry to our room which was a welcome and unexpected pleasure!

The room was great and well appointed. We were very pleased with the quality of everything including bed linen, toiletries and towels. Managed to sleep well which is unusual for me in hotels normally.

We frequented the bar on a number of occasions and ate a light meal one evening. Staff great and very helpful, the food we had was lovely, sadly didn't eat at the restaurant which we perhaps should have found time for so can't comment on that.

Hotel very central so plenty of places to wander to and eat/ drink at within easy reach.

Would definitely return to this hotel when we next get the chance to visit Alicante.

Arrived at this hotel for a long weekend on 09/05/14 and must say what a wonderful place to stay beautiful building great rooftop pool for relaxing after a bit of sightseeing with bar and food service total relaxation and great views of the castle , nice size room but a little noisy late at night but did not bother me and my wife .Had a lovely meal in the tapas restaurant in the hotel service was fantastic ,if staying in alicante would thoroughly reccommend this as the place to stay great location right in the heart of everything and hotel staff were great breakfast was really good also everything you could want and more .

Room Tip: We were on the first floor if noise is an issue suggest requesting a room higher up

The hotel and room were perfect as was the breakfast and the service. Unfortunatley they need to move the staff from there to the resturant which dissapointed. The rooms were fine, a little noisy at night but to be expected in a city centre above its own nightclub but did not cause us a problem.
Unfortunatley neither the roof top bar or club on the ground floor were fully open as it was too early in the season but you could get food and drink served to the rooftop on request

Just returned from Hospes Amerigo this morning after a weekend stay I can not praise this hotel enough we had a check in time of 3pm on arrival at 11.30 we were offered complimentary cold drinks and told our room would be ready within 10 minutes which it was, the staff on the desk were so helpful and polite made you feel as though they were waiting for you to arrive. The room absolutely beautiful the beds so comfortable even though two singles pushed together you would never of known.
The roof top pool and terrace were wonderful with complimentary towels that were plush and comfortable. The Michelin star restaurant was lovely experience staff very tentative but not overly we were made to feel so welcome.breakfast was included in our price and what a breakfast it was hot and cold buffet style the food was delicious. The hotel is near to the beach, promenade and the beautiful castle is a must we took the elevator and the views were amazing. We ate in some of the side streets and little squares around the hotel which were extremely pleasant lovely rose wine from alicante went down well.
I had the best 3 days in this hotel and would love to go back again someday

You do not have to use too many words to describe this Hotel, one will do excellent. However I will pay compliments to the manager and his staff, always happy smiling faces, especially the Reception. The breakfast was the best I have ever eaten, amazing.

Room Tip: We had a room overlooking the front, a little noise early morning, the street cleaners have to do it...
