“Poor customer service, not 4star....”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 August 2014

Clean hotel in a central location, and correct prices but.....I really can't understand how it is 5th in TA ratings?
The customer welcome behind the reception desk is really poor. Either you don't see anyone as they are chatting to the side in the office and you need to shout 'Olà', or there is a wait to get served, with bearly a smile. Not at all a 4 star welcome. We had just left a 4star in Valencia (Vincci Palace) where even if you don't need anything there is always someone at the desk and they welcome you, so the contrast was abrupt. Breakfast staff insufficient so no cups, no glasses etc...
Surprisingly few english or french tv channels.
However if you don't need any advice and just want an impersonal but clean room in a central practical location the Lucentrum offers that.
Hopefully check in and reception staff will become more welcoming and stop making guests feel like they are bothering them.....It was great however being able to leave our cases during our last day!!!!

Room Tip: High floor rooms are more peacefull, but it was boiling in the lifts.

My boyfriend and I chose to upgrade to a junior suite, and we're disappointed from the start. Initially told we couldn't check in til 4pm, we went for an orientation walk around Alicante, and returned at 4.15pm.

Upon our return we were told that the room was still not available. Almost 1hr later, we were able to check into our room, to find the requested king bed was not there, but a set of twin beds instead.
When we went to reception to ask them to change it, we were informed that housekeeping left at 3pm that day and it wouldn't be done until the morning. When queried how this was possible as our room was still being cleaned at 4pm, they had no answer. The staff then offered to DOWNGRADE us to a normal double suite, and just refund us the difference. Finally a manager came out and spoke to someone who discovered housekeeping was in fact still there, and we finally got our bed configuration to what we paid for. They also finally apologised and gave us a free breakfast, but this was after I argued with them at length for over half an hour.

Overall, nice hotel, nice facilities but staff need to work on their customer service.

I stayed here for three nights in early July and had a fine experience. The hotel was clean and had some modern finishes and was in a relatively central location, depending on where you need to be. It is literally right across the street from the central market, very close (less than 5 minutes) from a lot of great restaurants, about 10 minutes from the beach and probably 15 minutes from the shopping area. I really would just say it's a very average chain hotel. The service was not great - we didn't interact with the staff other than checking in and checking out. As far as the amenities go, well, they may as well not have any. The hot tub is a bit creepy and the exercise equipment is really, really old. I enjoyed my experience here and the comfort was just fine.

Stayed in this Eurostars hotel with my girlfriend for 4 night at the end of June. We booked this holiday just a week prior to departure and given this last was quite a last minute decision I was quite surprised we were able to get such a nice hotel at such a reasonable price. Prior to booking this hotel out requirements for accommodation revolved around finding somewhere in a central location which had good links to and from the airport as to make the most of our short stay. Having returned from our holiday I can honestly say that our time spent researching payed off. The bus from the airport stopped straight across the street from the hotel (100 yards) costing only around €3 per person and the hotel itself was only a 10 minute walk down hill threw the little shop/cafe/restaurant filled streets (perfect for venturing out to every evening for food and drinks) straight to the beach. This superb location meant that we were able to start our relaxing beach break within 20 minutes of arriving to the hotel and checking in. The hotel itself was modern in decor and was impeccably clean. The rooms were generously sized and well equipped. The hotel staff were also most helpful in dealing with any requests we had during our stay. In addition to paying for our room we also opted to pay for breakfast for the duration of our stay. The selection available at breakfast was quite large and varied from fresh fruit and pastries to cold meats and a small selection of hot foods. I personally felt the hot food breakfast selection could have been better but that was my only gripe. Having said all of the above I feel this hotel is more than deserving of its 4 stars and I would recommend it highly.

Stayed here for one night on a recent business trip. Location was spot on, only a very short walk to the harbour & an endless choice of restaurants and bars around the area. Room was great, spotless & ice cold AC which was great to cool down in! Staff were very friendly & allowed me to leave my suitcase there securely until ready to go to the airport well after checking out which allowed me a nice afternoon in Alicante. Great value for the location also.

Expected a lot of good things based on reviews on here. The hotel itself is in a great location in terms of accessing the main bars and restaurants in the city (however I would have preferred it to be nearer the beach myself but only a 10/15 min walk away).

Nice clean decor at reception area but quite cold as well, no background music and no atmosphere. Was surprised to learn there was no bar or restaurant in hotel.

Was located to a room on 2nd floor and immediately noticed a strong smell of dirty nappies, and underwhelmed by the room and view, we were changed to a room on 9th floor. Much better with view of castle but two single beds joined together instead of a double.

Must note that Enrique was extremely rude and did not offer to bring our luggage up which had been sitting in the office while we were waiting to be relocated. He shrugged and said my colleague will deal with it while the young girl struggled to manage part of the luggage and looked extremely uncomfortable which was probably due to Enrique's harsh attitude.

Cleanliness was excellent and cleaner was in same time everyday. She did a great job of keeping the room up to a perfect standard. TV was very dated and only two channels but this wasn't an issue as such as we were out most of the time.

Good location next to all the main bars, restaurants and shops and the beach is only a short walk away.

If you are needing a short break away from alicante the tram is outside the hotel to take you to benidorm which is about an hours trip away and only 6euros each way.

Lovely city really enjoyed it, I usually prefer more resort style hotels with a pool but this was ideal for our trip.

There is a small gym, jacuzzi and sauna on top floor which is usually fairly quiet so good for relaxation.

Breakfast was lovely wide variety and very tasty.

All in all a good stay apart from a certain member of staff.
