Have stayed at this hotel on a previous trip to Alicante. It's well located in a lovely square close to restaurants, the beach and marina. Spotlessly clean and the staff are friendly and helpful. Would recommend this hotel.

Good hotel, excellent value for money.

Easy to find from the airport bus, the stop is near the Marina and the Melia Alicante hotel, cross the road and go under the archway ahead, its on the right.

We were able to check in immediately, even though it was before noon. Comfortable room with all the usual facilities. Alas no English TV channels.

Deposit of 20 Euro for the safety deposit, no daily charge

Breakfast well worth the 8.50E, stock up on fluids to counteract the alcohol induced dehydration!!

Loads of good bars and restaurants nearby, if you like (and understand Tapas) you'll eat very well and cheaply.

It can be noisy at night, the roads are still cleaned and the bins emptied every night. The revellers on Saturday night were quite loud, possibly on a route through to the taxi rank.

Great central location, although can be very noisy when bars empty especially at weekends. Ask for high floor on plaza side of hotel. Staff are very helpful, although local knowledge a bit hit and miss. If you book this hotel for the free wifi be aware there are connection problems to iPads and iPhones. Had to constantly ask for wifi to be reset during stay. Very annoying cliche in otherwise good stay.

Terrific location near to the beach, old town, marina & only 10 minutes walk from modern shopping area. Very easy to get the C-6 express bus to and from the airport (stop in Plazza Peurta del Mar is 2 minutes walk from the hotel). Soundproofing in rooms was poor, particularly with other hotel guests crashing around at 1am. On a Friday night the local bars empty around 2:00am and the town square becomes a noisy gathering place until about 4:30am. Not great if you are a light sleeper. Hotel staff were fantastic, friendly and helpful. Breakfast was a plentiful supply of cereals, fruit, pastries, rolls, cold meat, cheese, fruit juice, tea & coffee. The hotel was advertised on the web as a 4 star - in reality, it was a clean, comfortable and friendly 3 star.

We spent 7 pleasant nights at the Eurostars Mediterranea Plaza Alicante from 9-16 February 2013.

The hotel is ideally situated and is within only two minutes' walk from a large number of restaurants, Santa Barbara Castle (a "must see"), the train/tram to Benidorm/Altea/Denia and the beach/marina. The shopping area is about 10-15 minutes' walk away.

To get to the hotel we took bus C6 from the airport (2.75 € single, 20 minutes) and got off at Plaza Puerta del Mar, also two minutes' walk from the hotel, and right next to the train/tram terminus. Don't take a taxi - the bus is fast, efficient and inexpensive.

The hotel is very well appointed (no lounge area but there are so many cafés/restaurants in the vacinity that this is not a problem). Rooms are practical, the beds are very comfortable, and the breakfast - a buffet - is excellent (except the scambled eggs into which the chef seemed to have emptied the entire salt cellar on the day we tasted it!). Yoghurt, bread/toast with jam, cereals, ham, cheese, several fresh fruit juices, several fresh fruit, bacon, scrambled eggs, viennoiseries, coffee, tea).

There is a lift to the six floors, though it can only accommodate 3-4 adults.

There is free wifi in the rooms, though the signal strength was not enough to maintain a stable connection on the 4th floor. We understand they will be reviewing the wifi transmitters shortly.

The staff were all very pleasant and helpful. Reception staff speak English The rooms were very clean. Bathroom (with both bath and shower) was of a good size and over the 7 days we never experienced variations in the shower temperature (my pet hate in hotels!). Free tissues, shower gel, shoeshine, comb, etc. Ample supply of (large) towels replaced on request.

Lots of restaurants in the vacinity, all very good value and with very friendly staff.

We hired a car to explore the surrounding area for 3 days and the hotel staff enquired about rates for us (although in the event we rented directly via the internet as we got a better price that way with Europcar at the railway station). It is of note that the hotel has a discount at the car park just by the Melia Plaza Hotel (2' walk) which charges only 15€ instead of the regular 24€ for 24 hours for Eurostars guests.

The double glazing is not very well fitted (the glass panes were not air-tight which rather defeats the object of the exercise) - there were lots of roudy youths whose favourite passtime was to yell and sing at 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 am and unfortunately the double glazing was not effective against their antisocial behaviour, though we suspect that no double or indeed triple glazing would be in view of their rowdy antics! Some of them had excellent voices that carried over miles. They should form a chorale ;-)

All in all, great value for money and we would definitely recommend this hotel, and indeed go back for another stay in the future.

Thanks to all the staff for making our stay so pleasant.

Hint: Best tarifs can often be obtained by reserving during the night (Alicante time).

The hotel is located across the plaza from the city hall. It was difficult to find because we were driving, there are many streets which were converted into walking streets and even with GPS we had problems. Finally we asked a policemen and he pointed to the hotel, we were actually on the Plaza, but the hotel doesn't have a very noticable sign. They actually have a reserved parking spot on the street, but in the morning we had to move it to the beach area which costs only about 3euros. We had a large room on the 2nd floor facing the Plaza. It was very comfortable, quiet, WI-FI worked in the room.

We stayed at this hotel for a weekend city break, travelling as an adult family group [with 2 sons 23 + 25]. Great hotel location, near the marina, promenade and Old Town. The location and exterior provided plenty of character, located on an old plaza outside the Town Hall. Check in was friendly and efficient. We were on 4th floor, but cramped lift only allowed 3 people + luggage. Rooms were quite small, with disappointingly dated furniture for 4* [seat upholstery split]. Beds were comfortable, but first night's sleep [Saturday] disturbed by lots of late-night street noise [shouting etc.] ... but this is Spain where night-life starts late and continues through. All in ... an excellent weekend, chirpy night-life, excellent food ... with winter sun [in the 70s] guaranteed to put a smile your face!
