I first visisted Ses Rotes Velles with two young children, then aged 4 and 3, a year after it had opened in 2001. We returned in July 2006 with three children. As in most of Spain, they get a big welcome.
The hotel is part of the 'Agroturismo' scheme under which farms receive grants to diversify into tourism. So, you are on a working farm with a dozen simple but clean and spacious rooms and a sparkling clean pool. Most of the food (certainly the fruit and veg)is fresh from the farm. Breakfast and dinner are available (and snacks at lunchtime). Dinner is simple but very good, with a choice of two dishes for each course (changed daily), to be chosen over breakfast.
The place is run and staffed by the Portell family; most of the cooking is done by the grandmother, with the indefatigable Nicolas running the show.
It is well positioned for the beautiful Es Trenc beach (6 km of white sand with little development), which is 10 mins drive away, but is well back from the main road about 1 km down its own track, so there is no traffic swish.
A good choice for a simple and relaxing family holiday (and so good for your carbon footprint).
