Desperately trying to find somewhere half decent to eat we jumped into a cab and he took us to this restaurant. Unsure at first we went with it and didn't regret at all. 60 euro for a meal for 3 and more than enough food. Out the way but would definitely recommend

This was our second visit to this restaurant, worth the bus trip from Caleta da Fuste just for lunch. It is out of the way, down a side street and not likely to be discovered by accident. We were originally recommended by the tourist information office. The high proportion of reviews in Spanish suggests that it is not often frequented by British tourists. Not much English is spoken by the staff, which makes choosing from the menu a little difficult. Having ordered "grilled fish" I was surprised to receive a platter of three whole fish, a vieho, a chopa and a sardo and this after I had eaten seafood crepes for starter. They were perfectly cooked and too good to waste any, so I had to forgo dessert. This is a well-appointed, well-run restaurant and well worth seeking out.

El Cangrejo is one of three restaurants on Fuerteventura run by the grandchildren of María Hierro, the famed cook of La Marisma, a restaurant in El Cotillo. The third is El Anzuelo in Corralejo.

The situation of the restaurant is a little odd. From the outside, it seems to be part of a very unattractive building, reminiscent of a 1960s civic hall or bingo club. But don't be dissuaded. The aspect of the restaurant is indeed unremarkable but it features a pleasant terrace with views of the port of Puerto del Rosario which, regrettably, is very industrial to one side.

The food is more attractive and we enjoyed a very good selection of tapas before a fresh fish of the day that proved excellent, as almost always in the Hierro restaurants.

Certainly not a restaurant that attracts tourists, being some way from the commercial centre of the town. Nevertheless, it appeared popular for local business lunches.
