We join our enthusiastic voices to all those who have positively commented on this place. Everything is right about it. Beautiful surroundings, quiet and peaceful, just remote enough but not too much, with a breathtaking view of the sea. Rooms are wonderfully comfy.
Breakfast was superb - on the terrace with a nice view - and top notch service.
We'd like to stay longer ... but it is full :(

Room Tip: All are good - sea or garden view ....

This place is in the most beautiful position someone could ask for; amongst the vineyards, overlooking the mountains and across to the forever changing ocean. Unfortunately we did not visit during good weather but I could imagine during the warmer months to be just perfect by the pool.
Our room was beautiful - decorated perfectly; a bottle of complimentary water waiting for us; Browns toiletries throughout the bathroom; a short bathrobe each with slippers to use. A small television sufficient to watch but the views to die for. The room smelt lovely and was spotlessly clean (even though we had a fly plague at the time we visited). Breakfast was generous and served from 9am. A limited menu was available between 7 - 9.30pm if you did not wish to venture far for dinner, which one night we did stay at the hotel and had a wonderful salad together with a bottle of wine purchased down town. The staff are excellent, plenty of reading areas to relax in with nice warm throw rugs to use during the colder weather. A great honesty bar area is situated at the property. Furniture and decor just beautiful - nothing looks like it is wearing; including the carpet. A lift is available to get luggage to the rooms or to utiliise if you do not wish to use the stairs. This place is quiet and quiant. Parking on site. Narrow road to reach the property - beware of other vehicles coming the other way.
I would love this place to be close to my own home, as I would visit it annually.
Thank you so much for giving my husband & I a truly wonderful experience. If we ever return it will be during your summer months so we can use that beautiful pool.

Room Tip: Depends on the view you would like. All rooms are styled differently but beautifully.

Itureggi is incredibly well situated, high up on a hill in the countryside overlooking the water. To take in the view of vineyards, mountains, and ocean from a single vantage point is breathtaking and calming all at once. The property itself is immaculately maintained, quiet, and very comfortable. The staff was attentive, friendly, and down-to-earth, offering the kind of welcome that makes you feel at home, while at the same time, respectful of your desire to relax privately in such a beautiful place.

Given the price, however, my wife and I felt that a few "extras" would have been nice, for example, offering a complimentary wine and cheese hour focusing on regional wines, a sweet treat on each turn down service in the evening (we received chocolates one night, but not the other nights of our stay), and maybe a small plate of cookies or pastry to compliment the free coffee and tea at the honor bar. The breakfast each morning was fresh, plentiful and satisfying (though some variation in the daily offering would be a nice touch).

I will also echo the sentiment of some other reviewers in terms of one quirky and disappointing "house rule," which does not allow any of the "room service" to be served in the common areas or by the pool (only in the room itself) and similarly, if one brings a bottle of wine and some treats from a local market (like we did from San Sebastian), it also cannot be enjoyed anywhere outside the room. This feels constraining and almost like an imposition in an atmosphere where one wants to feel that as a guest, your comfort and enjoyment is the first priority.

Lastly, we did have one unusual experience with the room service in which the bottle of wine we ordered and did not finish (about half of it remained) was removed from our room the next morning. When I called to inquire about being offered a complimentary bottle for this oversight, I was told the bottle was found and it could be returned to us, which from my perspective, is a bit awkward, in that once something that I've purchased has been removed from the room, it should be replaced entirely. The new bottle that I requested was sent to our room (along with the opened bottle that had been removed), but we were charged for the second bottle. I realize that the hotel cannot indiscriminately be giving out "free" bottles of wine to customers, but in this case, I think it was warranted, and the response that I was hoping for would have been: "We're sorry for the oversight and will send up a bottle to your room 'on the house.'"

So in the end, I would say, do not hesitate to stay and Itureggi, it is absolutely lovely and almost perfect, save a few touches that could make this very fine property just a little more guest friendly than it already is.

In a word, impeccable. We took the only available room and to my understanding it was the smallest. It was gorgeous. No detail overlooked. Extremely comfortable and accommodating on every level. Simply gorgeous. The breakfast was one of the finest "free" breakfast experiences we've ever experienced. I wanted to buy the whole property and move in forever. The views are outstanding - you can see three lighthouses all the way down the coast.

Room Tip: We stayed in "Zuaretz"

Never wanted to leave this beautiful hotel which felt like home. Staff were friendly, our room was quiet and serene .. loved that I could open the french doors to look out on hedges of hydrangeas - the sun filtering through in the late afternoon. Truly bliss. We arrived by public transport from Bilbao and without a car, quite happy to walk into Getaria each day - takes about 30 minutes .. along part of the Camino de Santiago and was the original Roman road. Great fish restaurants in Getaria and do not miss the Cristobal Balenciaga Museum. We also walked to Zumaia on another day. It truly was one of those wonderful moments when on holiday that everything was as we expected and more. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: We had a mountain view room which was more than adequate.

This charming small rural hotel is nestled in the countryside near the fishing town of Getaria. This is a tranquil setting with great views of the hills and the sea. We were welcomed by Diane who was great, she gave us wonderful tips for exploring the region and of some local restaurants. We specially liked her tip on the restaurant in Getaria called Iribar, excellent. The hotel is well decorated in the Provence style, nice overstuffed sofas create great reading/sitting areas. Our room, called Zarautz, was well furnished and very comfortable. Great spacious shower, large window with beautiful views and all the creature comforts you might need. The hotel works like a house, you have a key to the main gate so you can come and go as you please. The pool area is quite nice, unfortunately it was too cold for swimming. The gardens are very well kept with beautifully manicured lawns, worth a stroll, there is even a small golf course. Breakfast was excellent, very well prepared... I recommend the scrambled eggs. The service and staff was great at all times. The only drawback was the wifi, which was temperamental and barely worked while we were there. We highly recommend this hidden gem in the Getaria countryside.

We absolutely loved Iturregi - the sun finally came out as we approached the hotel and spent the whole time shining during our stay.

The welcome was friendly with a tour of the hotel and great restaurant suggestions. The girls were always smiling and helpful with bringing drinks / booking taxis etc. The wine and drinks are really well priced (not the usual fleecing you get from boutique hotels) and it is about a 10euro taxi to Getaria for dinner should you not want to drink and drive.

Our room (Zumaia) was stunning with a huge bathroom and bedroom. It is one of the cheaper ones so I can only imagine how huge the others are!

Pool area is great (although even with hot weather the water was freezing - I only saw one person brave enough to get in it!) we spent a few happy days by the pool, walking by the beach to work up an appetite and enjoying drinks befor dinner in the porch. If you want somewhere to chill out with lots of space but still explore the Basque countryside before the madness of San Sebastián (Getaria is a lovely town and Zarutz is an amazing beach walk) this is the place for you!

Oh and breakfast was beautiful, we never felt rushed so just enjoyed our coffees looking at the view and took our time.
