“Driving holiday around Southern Ireland.”
Reviewed 30 August 2014

Room was adequate with roomy Victorian appeal. Little loud late in evening
as live music carried on quite late as weary travellers were trying to get some sleep. Landlady very knowledgeable about the area and extremely helpful. Good, well cooked food available.

My husband and I stayed here for one night. It was a perfect place to stop between the Cliffs of Moher and the Dingle Peninsula. We were concerned that there would be a lot of noise from the downstairs pub, but we didn't hear anything! This may have been a side effect of our Sunday night stay or that we had pretty much been awake for 30 or so hours prior to falling asleep. Either way, no complaints. Yummy breakfast.

If you are looking for an authentic Irish pub experience, this is the place to stay, have a drink, or enjoy a meal. I stayed upstairs for six nights while playing golf in County Clare and it was a great experience. Although my room was one of Crotty's smaller rooms, it was very comfortable and perfect for my needs. The breakfast is superb and it was great to walk downstairs every evening for a pint or two!! The entire staff is friendly and helpful, and Kevin, the owner, could not do enough for us. The food is very good as well. And don't miss Tuesday and Wednesday nights when local musicians come in to entertain. If you want to be in a place where you are surrounded by locals and not tourists, this is the place to stay. I cannot say enough good things about Crotty's! What a fun and unique experience!!

I wasn't expecting much because Crotty's had been recommended by one too many tourist books. It's an unassuming neighborhood pub that serves really good food in large quantity. We both ordered the daily special -- a beefburger with a choice of sides. I had mashed potatoes and mashed turnips, which were fun and tasty. The burger seemed to be all beef -- little or no fillers and tasted great (during my break from seafood). Seafood chowder also was excellent, according to my husband, who couldn't finish his meal because he ordered soup and hamburger with sides.

It was clear that locals eat here too, so it's not necessarily a tourist trap. Our server was friendly and so helpful that he walked half a block up the street with us to point us in the right direction for our next adventure. Worth a stop, for sure!

We stayed at Crotty's recently and were made very welcome by Sarah as she showed us to our rooms. She also gave us advice about the menu and made our meal a special occasion . The food in the restaurant was superb
We were also looked after very well by Jack behind the bar
Really enjoyed the Irish breakfast, again looked after very well by the staff serving breakfast

We stayed at Crotty's in early June 2014. Were on a self guided tour of Ireland and wanted a place somewhere between Dingle and the Cliffs of Moher. We randomly picked Kilrush and Crotty's. And are we glad we did. Crotty's is a great B&B over a fantastic historic pub. Our room was spacious and the B&B facilities were charming. They have a guest lounge on the second floor that is delightful. It is filled with antiques and is just charming. The breakfast room also well appointed and charming.

The pub is worth the trip to Kilrush, in and of itself. It is truly a historic pub with much of the facility just the way it was at the turn of the century. Roam the room a gawk at its contents.

But the best part of the pub was the staff, particularly a delightful fellow named Jack. We had dinner at the pub (which was very good btw) and had a running dialogue with Jack and the other pub staff. He made our night. Just a nice person. Welcoming and friendly.

If you're in Kilrush, make the effort and go to Crotty's. You will not be disappointed.

We have a house in the area and whenever we come home to visit, we always go to Crotty's. Great atmosphere, and the food is hearty and tasty. We love the crab and salmon. So definitely worth a visit when in Clare.
