“Very good food at fair prices on the bay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 May 2014

Before having a walk on the fantastic beach of Cayeux, we stopped by in The Parc aux Huitres for lunch. They propose several fixed price menus from 15 to 35 € and a "a la carte"
The choice of plates a quite large with a lot of specialities of the house: mussels and oysters, ficelle picarde, fishes, and the local desert " le gateau battu"
Everything was great we did enjoy It is recommended to book your table if you want to be seated close to the window.

“Fresh beyond belief”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 April 2014

gorgeous setting with the boats in the small harbour bobbing up and down and simply glorious fresh food - OK we had oysters and a small plateau de fruits de mer so nothing much testing the chef but the mains were lovely as was a great rice pudding with salted caramel (the latter is a bit of a local delicacy)

The small hotel above is clean and simple and whre you would love t ostsay after as decent dinner but most rooms are not en suite it's just plain and simple with of curse great views! And we saw a couple of phoques too !!

We'd go back tomorrow

“Spoils a lovely spot”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 August 2013

On arrival rhe waiter quickly brushed of the crumbs from the previous diners into my lap. The chair next to me was full of crumbs. We chose the 18.50 euro menu and I think that the entree could be produced for around 50 centimes ! 1 or 2 chopped lettuce leaves, 4 pieces of sun dried tomato ( in August ?) a few chunks of bottled artichoke and a very thin piece of smoked salmon as big as my thumb. The main course fish was quite well cooked, but accompanied by a few well stewed vegetables and less than a handful of rice. The dessert was quite tasty but comprised tinned pineapple and a portion of ice cream.

A poor quality meal at an excessive price in comparison to other restaurants within a 30 kilometer range.

A great shame because Le Hourdel is a very pleasant place to visit.

“Take a tip round the bay to Le Crotoy - this place isn't good enough”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 August 2012 via mobile

This hotel/BB/restaurant does not have enough competition to encourage (or force) them to improve. Dated interior, with poor food that is overpriced.

Seafood served with no imagination or effort - crab body pulled from shell and cut in half, prawns and shrimps all in their shell. It was almost like the chef wasn't their. I can't even remember what starter we had it was that dull (and only a few days ago)

I didn't see the rooms up close but in the pictures shown to us by the staff they looked dated and similar to guest house accommodation in the 80s
