The Premier Inn was overpriced this time of the year, so looked for an alternative. You never know what you are going to get when you go elsewhere, but this turned out to be a great place to stay. Everything clean and tidy, the owners very friendly and made it a real pleasure to stay here. Would definitely return if we need somewhere down this way again.

Second visit to The Garden Lodges.

Our accommodation was ready: clean and tidy.

Nice to be, also, welcomed by the feline occupants!

Sadly, our visiting neighbours smoked their cigarettes outside our Lodge; probably because there was an ashtray on the garden table. Sorry Steve and Debbie it's a bit of a niggle but you advertise the Lodges a "NO SMOKING" property.

We shall be back, soon!!

Stayed here for just one night while touring Clacton-on-Sea, nice idea of offering breakfast in self-catering accommodation but with a bit more space and freedom than a hotel room. Well equipped, although settee a little uncomfortable. Very reasonably priced and nothing too much trouble to the owners.

The lodge was very clean, tidy and well equipped. We arrived on a very cold afternoon and the lodge was freezing but within minutes once the heating was on it was as warm as toast.
We had everyting we needed for an overnight stay, towells bedding etc.
Breakfast was very good and plenty to eat, from croissants yoghurts and bread and cereal.
It was very quiet all night, we walked into the village 10 mins away and had a supurb meal in Harrys bar and restaurant.
The only negative was. we paid 10.00 extra for the use of the sofa bed and bedding which was the most uncomfortable sofa bed ever, my sister had only a couple of hours sleep in it as it diiped down in the middle, however when we mentioned this to the owner he was very appolgetic and was willing to rectify this on our next visit. I would definitely recommend this place and make a return visit.

Needing an overnight stay in the area prior to viewing a boat for sale we came across this gem of a place to stay.... fantastic facilities presented with just the right mix of friendly, informal and let you get on with it. The Garden Lodge we stayed in was ultra clean, well appointed, comfortable and warm.... in the face of a wicked January cold snap. Great facilities which would bring shame to most holiday cottages all set in a quiet back garden with abundant birdlife, peace and quiet.

Great value for a stopover or a longer stay.

Room Tip: Just talk to the friendly and helpful owners. All the lodges are set in lovely gardens

We have stayed here three times, once last year and twice this year. We are always made very welcome.
It is an ideal stopping off point for the ferry at Harwich being less than half an hour away. We used it in both directions.
Steve and Debbie have been very thoughtful in equipping the lodges even down to small things. They even provide breakfast with cereal, bread, margarine, jam and yoghurt as well as tea/coffee, milk and sugar. The only thing more I could have asked for was some orange juice.
You can walk to Tesco and there are plenty of places to eat in the village. We tried the Indian, it was good.
There are lots of places to visit locally: walton and Frinton for the seaside, Colchester or the Clacton Factory Outlet for shopping and the Lodges are provided with plenty of leaflets for other attractions.
The best place to stay in this area
Contact them direct for a good deal - they are very reasonable

Room Tip: Both equally gorgeous.
