“One of the best vacations of our lives”
Reviewed 23 September 2016 for a stay in August 2016

We had a wonderful time at this beautiful villa. There were 10 of us in all between our two families (kids were between ages 1-12) and L'Oiseau Chantant couldn't have been any better. The place was clean, great for our large group, and the pool was great for the kids. We took hikes, rode bikes, visited the hot springs, explored the local village, ate at a Michelin starred restaurant, even saw an old 9th century Abbey, and lots of other things that I've forgotten.

The house is located in an ideal place because you're right in heart of the mountains with the beach only an hour away in Perpignan. We barbequed almost every night while the kids finished up their afternoon pool time. I'd recommend staying for a couple weeks because the house is fully equipped and there's so much to see in the area. There's this great combination of seclusion and opportunities for fun.

Julie was a great host and was easy to stay in touch with even though I didn't have a working phone during our time in France. She was professional but still warm and available.

I'd strongly recommend this place because it played a pivotal role in one of our best family vacations ever.

“Just perfect”
Reviewed 6 September 2016 for a stay in August 2016

We have just returned from a week with friends at L'Oiseau Chantant (we were four adults and five children). All of us were blown away by the beauty of the surroundings and the sheer comfort of the house. Every posible thing you could want has been provided from beautiful pottery dishes for serving food, to a beach umbrella, to great DVDs and books, to swimming towels and a child-safe alarm on the pool. The effect of all this thought is to make you feel pampered and cared for, and we left feeling happy, rested and ready to return to our busy lives. I could not recommend this villa more highly.

“A wonderful house for large groups of all ages”
Reviewed 6 September 2015 for a stay in August 2015

We have just returned home from two weeks' stay with our family in L'Oiseau Chantant. There were ten of us - we two, our two sons, two wives and four grandchildren. We had a wonderful time in this superb house with pool and large wrap-around garden. The children loved the pool and the garden - we took their scooters and they were able to whiz around on the large paved area and build "dens" in the garden. They also enjoyed going down to the stream in the village and "fishing" with their nets.
The house itself is ideal for a party of our size and has four newly refitted bathrooms. I understand the kitchen is also bring refitted next year which will give more food preparation areas, although we managed quite well.
The house is also comfortably and tastefully furnished. The views of the mountains from the garden are stunning.
During our stay we visited the Parc Animalier, the caves and the walled town of Villefranche-de-Conflent. On our last full day we took a trip on Le Petit Train Jaune which I can also recommend.
We enjoyed it so much that we all want a return visit at some point in the future.

“Stylish comfort in a tranquil setting”
Reviewed 14 July 2015 for a stay in August 2014

I enjoyed two weeks at the Villa which offered every convenience one could wish for. Location is ideal for country walks and centrally situated to visit nearby villages and towns. Tourist attractions galore. I loved the markets in the nearby towns and meeting the local people who made us feel welcome in their quiet village. It was nice to find an English Church to attend on Sundays.

“A wonderful house in a fantastic location”
Reviewed 10 August 2014 for a stay in July 2014

We had a brilliant holiday at L'Oiseau Chantant. The villa is lovely, very well equipped and maintained to a high standard.
The location is fantastic - close to the middle of the community of Fuilla, yet with the most secluded garden. The beautiful and clean swimming pool and large terrace were a huge hit with the whole family - the children in and out of the water all day, and everyone sunning themselves and reading. The views from the garden are lovely - mountains on every side, including the amazing Mount Canigou. We had golden oriole and hoopoe in the garden. We ate almost all the meals outside on the various tables, the largest of which was big enough to seat the whole party of 12 comfortably. We had a number of lovely BBQs. In the very occasional rainy moments the table in the kitchen/dining area was good too.
The bedrooms are all well furnished and bright and clean. The lounge is large and comfortable, though in fact we hardly used it apart from watching a couple of DVDs - we all wanted to be outside! The team maintaining the house and grounds were friendly and helpful and did a great job. The wireless internet is very fast, which kept the teenagers in touch and happy.
There is a fantastic variety of things to do and see without having to venture too far - mountain villages, forts, castles and ancient abbeys and churches; wonderful scenery - Pyrenean meadows, woods, high mountains, gorges, the " Train Jaune ", farmers where you can see the animals being milked and buy cow and goat cheeses, local apple juices and wines (highly recommend Mas Salies in Sahore), and pottery (Suzie at Mas Salies again). And there are local events - markets, communal meals, festivals etc. - which visitors are welcome to join in. Good supermarkets too, the best we found being Super U in Prades.
There is also plenty to do further afield no doubt, but we were all happy where we were - from grandparents in their 80s to cousins from 10 to 19.

“Fantastic Villa, really well equipped, beautiful views.”
Reviewed 2 August 2014 for a stay in July 2014

We stayed for a week and wished it had been two. The villa is brilliantly equipped - the first time we'd stayed somewhere with wifi access, and since it was the World Cup, we valued the TV. Everything was really clean and tidy, especially the pool. Loved the views, and the sound of the clock when you're in the garden, surrounded by the mountains. Loved also the privacy of the place - no-one able to overlook the garden. Innumerable walks nearby. It was just a great place to relax, and a base to explore from. Thank you!

“Beautiful villa in stunning setting, very private and tranquil”
Reviewed 9 October 2013 for a stay in August 2013

There are a couple of other villas in the same village, and we were so happy to have chosen L'Oiseau Chantant. The others looked nice but L'Oiseau Chantant did not disappoint in any department.
On arrival you are greeted by gates, a large pebbled area for up to five cars I would guess, great if travelling in convoy, and a beautifully present villa and garden. There is a stream that runs along the side of the plot, you can hear it as soon as you step out your car, lovely sound.
It's totally safe with no access for children. The villa itself was fantastic, better than the pictures, and everything we had hoped for. It's large, very clean, modern, well furnished and equipped with everything you could possibly need.
The garden is private and enclosed. The kids loved the outdoor space and that it wrapped around the villa, great for losing little sisters! They also loved the wildlife they found, lizards and dragonflies mostly. The pool was a great size and well maintained, the pool man came 2 or 3 times a week. It is not heated and very cold! The kids didn't mind one little bit but for us adults, you had to be brave! Once in though you get used to it, or maybe I was just numb!
There are lots of seating and a great bar b que, cooks to perfection!
There is a friendly bistro about 250m away, very child friendly, no frills but serves good honest food.
The villa is perfectly located for you to explore the surrounding area, it has so much to do and see. About an hour to the beach, Barcelona was just over a 2 hour drive, but worth a day trip.

Overall the villa felt like home for our two weeks in France. It was plenty big enough for our party, and provided very comfortable relaxed accommodation. There was nothing in the villa that was 'precious' so you'd feel on edge with children around, if that makes sense? Family proof I guess. Difficult to fault really, exceed our expectation. We were very sad to leave.
