Our stay at Riverside Lodge was one of our best holidays. The peaceful situation on the lakeside and river was relaxing and we particularly enjoyed sitting on the verandah and watching the swans with their cygnets, white cows and their calves and best of all were the magnificent sunsets over the water. I was lucky enough to see a kingfisher which settled on the rope outside our bedroom window. Magic.
Walks in the New Forest were lovely as always and we had two excellent lunches at the Fighting Cocks pub nearby. What more could anyone want?
Riverside lodge is beautifully situated on the bank of the Hampshire Avon with views over the open countryside to the west across the river. I stayed here for four nights on a short tour of some of the excellent golf courses in the local area and my golfing pal and i could find no fault with the high quality facilities or the very comfortable accommodation comprising two bedrooms, two bathrooms and spacious kitchen/diner with bi-folding doors opening up to the well stocked pond. Our host, Tony greeted us, made us feel very welcome and proved to be a mine of local information including tips on the Fordingbridge pubs and ever present wildlife (stags on the riverbank etc.)
I understand that the Lodge was only built a couple of years ago and accordingly has every modern convenience including underfloor heating and constant hot water which was very important to golfers enjoying the best of English weather in mid March!
A particular bonus was the excellent wi-fi enabling us to deal with all our emails and stay in touch with loved ones at home before getting down to the serious golfing business.
All in all a thoroughly enjoyable stay and I have no hesitation in recommending Riverside Lodge to all. I am sure that we will return.
We really enjoyed our Christmas break in the Riverside Lodge. It's not often you can sit outside in bare feet reading a book and feeding the fish and ducks on Boxing Day morning. Very comfortable and although windy outside, lovely and cosy inside and slept as snug as a bug in a rug. Will definitely stay again in the summer and explore the New Forest.
