“Better accomodation elsewhere”
Reviewed 24 March 2014 via mobile

A very good location. Quiet. Hot tub a real bonus. Good food in pub nearby.
Overpriced for what you get for your money. ( basically a large shed In the back of someone's back garden) Breakfast awful (lazy)

Please note this review ( Donna ) has been written by exactly the same couple as ( Chris K before this one ) where Chris's first comment was "WE thoroughly enjoyed our stay" and therefore feel this review is somewhat misleading as Donna has not once mentioned that she enjoyed her visit
The breakfast provided is a direct result of positive feedback from guests over the past 15 years certainly NOT a question of us being lazy !!
With regards to the Basic large garden shed comment that has clearly been taken from another reviewers post, I would like to point out that "Garden shed" and private Hot Tub cost in excess of £45,000 and feel this is a rather inaccurate description !

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the spa tub was wonderful, but £150 per night out of season without a cooked breakfast? It really isn't worth the money and like others have said, the restrictions on check-in times (i.e between 1:30 and 2:30 or after 6pm) are excessive.
If the prices per night were reduced, the silly restriction on check in times widened and it was properly marketted as self catering lodge with an option for a DIY continental breakfast, then it would be lovely. Mike and Mandy are nice people running a good business, just think they need to listen to their customers.
It's located in a loveley part of the New Forest in walking distance of a functional pub with good food. Just feel it was not really value for money, but the hot tub was really wonderful!!

As the owners we are so glad that you thoroughly enjoyed your stay with us and welcome the opportunity to respond to the points raised:
We are generally fully booked almost every weekend of the year and as such we do not have quiet out of season periods at weekends and unlike most other accommodation providers we keep our prices the same throughout the year without, what we feel unreasonable price hikes around the school holiday and summer periods. Our prices are in line and often cheaper than other providers in and around the New Forest that also offer accommodation with private 24hr Hot Tub outside your door.
During the fifteen years of running this business we have never provided or advertised a cooked breakfast. The breakfast provided is exactly as detailed on our website. There are two pubs 400 yards away for guests that require a full cooked breakfast. A majority of our customers enjoy ( as indicated in other reviews ) the freedom and flexibility of the self serve in room breakfast which we wash up and replenish daily as required.

Taking the feedback onboard regarding check in times we have now revised this to anytime between 2-4pm or after 6pm. And feel this should address the issued raised and hope the new 8 hour check in period should suit our guests better.

My fiancée and I booked Cypress Log Cabins for two nights in February to celebrate our anniversary together.

When we stepped into the log cabin we were taken aback by how tastefully it is furnished and how well it is equipped - modern, clean and comfortable with all of the essentials you will need for your stay. There was a hairdryer, towels, toiletries in the bathroom, plates, cups, wine glasse, etc. The fridge was also full of fresh juice, milk, water, bread, butter, jam and there was a drawer full of different cereals too. If you want anything topped up during your stay Mike and Mandy will do that for you too. I really don't understand people who have complained that it is 'help yourself' - a big part of what we enjoyed was getting up on our own steam with no deadline for having breakfast, and we enjoyed it in the comfort of our room whilst still in our PJs! It suited us!

Mandy and Mike were very welcoming and friendly, but were also very respectful of our privacy and left us to enjoy ourselves too. They were very approachable and we knew, should we have any problems or questions, that they were there if we needed them.

The hot tub was incredible, and as we stayed in the Oak cabin we were able to enjoy the cover provided over the top of it, even with the stormy weather. The mood lighting was very pretty, the water warm and the area nice and private.

The surrounding area is very pretty, and there's plenty to explore and do. We found a lovely pub/restaurant just up the road in Fordingbridge, called The George, where we enjoyed a lovely evening meal. There's also a pub within walking distance and Sandy Balls holiday resort which has lots of facilities too.

Would thoroughly recommend Cypress Log cabins, particularly for anyone looking for a romantic getaway. We hope to return at some point this year.

The checking times for this so called " Log cabin", but I would refer to as a large garden shed are somewhat bizarre 13.30-14.30 or any two hour slot after 6pm.
Upon arriving and ringing the doorbell endlessly for some 10 minutes and only getting the ferocious barking of a large German shepherd for our efforts, eventually the owner appeared and gave us the grand tour of the " log cabin" situated at the bottom of their very own back garden. The swimming pool to the right of us was never offered to us during our tour and the reason for this was fairly obvious.....It was covered and uncovering it all would have been far too much effort for the owners.
The "Log cabin" itself was very clean, but absolutely tiny considering the £200 per night we paid and considering you would get yourself a hotel room in Mayfair for the same price....Very dissapointing indeed.
Moving onto the so called continental breakfast......A loaf of mothers pride, butter and jam saches, Coco pops, a pint of milk and a carton of orange juice from concentrate.....Hardly continental!!!!
In conclusion: The owners are raking it in with very little effort on their behalf.
My opinion only, but fair I think.

Room Tip: Don't go at that price!

We always value our guests feedback, and would answer the queries raised by this negative review as follows, Our check in times are made clear at the time of booking and are a result of guest feedback with visitors checking in from 1.30pm through to midnight. Despite this particular guest clearly being fully aware of the check in times they arrived 45 minutes early ( at 12.45 ) while we were still preparing the rooms after being fully booked in all units the previous night as check out time for all guests is 11am. Luckily for the guests our 10 month old puppy German Shepherd, still in training :) did bark which alerted us they had arrived early and instead of turning them away we showed them to the cabin. Yes the cabins are located in the 1.5 acre garden as we are a B&B, NOT a Center Parcs type complex. The Swimming Pool is open June through to Sep which explains why we did not offer this facility, this is clearly stated on all our web advertising as is the size of each unit at 45 Sq M. and the breakfast is basic but far more than indicated in this review. Our selling point as a company is a Log Cabin inside the New Forest National Park with a private 24hr Hot Tub outside the door which appears to have been totally overlooked.
In conclusion we are a hard working couple that have built this business from nothing 15 years ago and are extremely offended that they feel we put very little effort to ensure our guest enjoy their stay with us. What a shame that this guest did not take the time to read the details of what he was booking.
The majority of online reviews we feel tell a different story, this is not only "our" opinion but also 94% of our guests :)

Mandy and Mike made us feel very welcome, a real home from home. Very comfy bed. The private hot tub was superb and the cabin was located in a beautiful area. We will definitely be going back for another chilled break. Thank you so much

First visited a few years back and have been a few times now and already booked to go again. Great relaxation, a couple of days can feel like a week. Hosts are very accommodating, will leave to your own devises but are there if you need anything. Have recommended to a few friends which think the same and we will continue to visit.
