We went here a few years back when we stayed at Sandy Balls Campsite for a mini break.
Found it hard to find, and was a bit hard to find anyone when we actually arrived. The woman who was in charge was a bit rude and abrupt and couldn't be bothered to take just the 2 of us it seemed, so sent us out with 2 of her "students"/stable girls. But this turned out to be brilliant. Both very lovely girls and the one in charge asked me a lot about my experience on horses. Having ridden quite a bit as a kid she encouraged us to gallop and race on a few occasions which was great fun as it's normally a canter at best when I've gone on a hack.
My other half didn't have as much luck as he is inexperienced with horses and had a very slow, stubborn shire horse!
The heavens opened on us when we were out which absolutely soaked us through but it was worth it.
Really lovely girls, wonderful horses and a very fun afternoon and well worth the money. Will be remembered for a long time.

We had a wonderful ride out for our granddaughter's 8th birthday. The horses were in great nick and perfectly chosen for the party, from 63 to 4 years of age. The girl who led our group actually made the whole thing. She could not have been nicer, more friendly or more helpful. We all had a great time. Thanks Arniss

We booked riding at this stables through Sandy Balls for our two daughters (aged 4 and 7) and our 15 year old niece. After careful fitting of hats and riding boots by staff, the girls had a 'tour' of the stables followed by a ride of about 15 minutes on horses that were suitable to their total novice ability. The two younger girls were thrilled, the teenager a little underwhelmed and expected something a little more adventurous but she was by far the oldest in the group of 5. The group should have been 4 children but the stables kindly accommodated a sibling who had been booked into a later group and this was not detrimental to the other children. The stables suggested we book directly with them another time so that the girls would get a full half hour of riding in the woods for the same price (£20 each). We will definitely do this if we return.

So, I can only rate this stables as an inexperienced rider / mum but certainly I was very impressed with the their calmness, professionalism, efficiency, attention to safety and unflustered approach. I would definitely recommend for total beginners. Thank you.

A lovely, well run, beautifully situated riding and livery yard in the New Forest.
I visited on the Open Day and saw all the riding skills of both visitors and staff. This is a very professionally run riding stables which had tiny children riding on miniature Shetlans with a helper on each side as well as thoroughbreads performing cross overs in the main menage.
Very impressive!
