Always a pleasure to visit the George, we're local and we think it's the best place to eat in Fordingbridge. To be fair, the menu is a bit restricted and hasn't been changed in a while, but the food and service are consistently good, as are the wines (a bit pricier than usual). All the staff are good, but Helen the waitress in particular is very cordial, very friendly and does a very efficient job. We think it must have changed hands within the last year or so, because all the standards have certainly been raised and the minority lowlife clientele, which bothered us a while ago, seems to have been eradicated. All in all, we don't think it can be beaten in this area and certain places not a million miles away (no names mentioned even if you're Stuck) could learn one or two things about ambiance and customer service. Limited parking, so arrive early!

A pleasant surprise! George Inn had an attentive staff in a relaxed, comfortable environment. Seating was perfect for watching the water from a warm and dry setting. If I wasn't there for a business lunch I'd have stayed on longer for a few pints...I'll certainly try to make it back there for dinner during my stay here. The menu was varied enough to appeal to most anyone. Thank you for a delightful lunch!

This pub overlooks the river, so with the right seat you have lovely views to enhance your visit, we greatly enjoyed watching the ducks. We had the Sunday lunch and it was delicious and plentiful. Not fine dining but very good. Service is attentive but a little casual to be able to give it 5 in the ratings. Same with atmosphere, the views were good, the pub is lively, but a little too untidy for the full 5. Its only a little bit off the full 5 though, so I would recommend it and we certainly had a great time there and would go back often if we lived nearby. They do have their own parking but it is very cramped , but there are lots of alternatives nearby.

Two families camping at Tom's Field near Godshill were ravenous for dinner. George Inn was perfect. Good modern food served with imagination and flair. Service was a bit slow but the location by the river is unbeatable !
