“Always great.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 March 2014

Okay, it's a little worn around the edges when it comes to decor, but the staff are great, the prices are keen and the food is never short of excellent. I have been several times, both by myself and as a couple and never been disappointed with the food or the general dining experience. The chef here really is the the prime example of 'a diamond in the rough'.

“good quality pub food”

served about 20 of us and the food was good and hot - the evergreen menu is a nice idea but our group were very satisfied

“Fabulous food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 December 2013

I have visited this restaurant twice now, with family and as a couple and we had fantastic food on both occasions. The menu is very interesting even for a vegetarian like me there is something completely different to try and the meat dishes that the rest of the family had were just as good. The staff were friendly and helpful and they were really busy on both occasions.
We will return soon.

“Excellent Local Pub”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 November 2013

This is our local so might be a little biased. What I can say beyond doubt is that it is the best pub in Fordingbridge. The menu is pretty extensive and you would be hard pressed to not find something suitable. My favourite is the steak with 'Cafe de Paris' sauce. Delicious. The pub often has themed evenings, especially Swiss. Always (and unusually) a constant offering on the menu is fondue and this is really nice to share. Can also recommend highly the ribs which are generous and meaty with a good sauce.
Beers are Green King so Abbott is recommended there but a selection of others (IPA, Guinness and lagers including San Miguel on draught).
Accommodation - although I have not stayed there family and friends have. The rooms are very pleasant and the cooked breakfast is generous and very nice indeed.
So, if you are in Fordingbridge do go to The Ship. It is the best pub for sure, nice atmosphere with candles and no louts, no juke box and no one armed bandits. Nice music is played in the background and often on Saturdays there is live music in the bar. John, is the landlord and Gerald, his son, is the chef. Worth giving your business to.
